Chloe Is In Grade 4 !

Yes, time does fly !  I never fully understood when my mom used to write on autograph books for my primary school friends ” Time and Tide waits for no man”, now I do.  Chloe is almost 10 years old now and it almost seems like not too long ago, she was a baby in my arms and I was so emotional and so overwhelmed and questioned myself as to how I can bring this tiny little girl up to be a useful person, a good person.  And here we are 10 years later, all grown up and kind, mostly a good and obedient girl but of course she is a kid and thinks she knows everything and is quite sassy at times till we warned  her that there is consequences for being sassy. But yes, overall, I’m grateful , very grateful for a healthy and good kid.

Chloe was very excited to go back to school, a few days before school re-opened, she told us that she can’t wait to meet her new teachers, her new classmates and everyone in school.  She can’t wait to learn new things.  This morning, she woke me up with such a big smile and hug, am I not the luckiest mom you tell me?  So we sent her off to school and we quickly informed her new home room teacher about her asthma meds as well as her milk bottles, I’m hoping she will speak up for herself like her what her old home room teacher had taught her. But I’m pretty sure she is going to have a good year and she will be working hard and all, but this year, we are going to have to spend more time helping her out with her homework and PB had volunteer to do the homework part with her during his lunch time.  Woohoo!

New Glasses For Chloe

We had gotten some new glasses for Chloe because she had complained that she can’t see that clearly with her old glasses even though it was less than a year old.  A eye test with the optometrist and eye doctor was scheduled as soon as the school term ended in July and true enough she needed new prescription.  We had wanted to recycle the old frames since they were still very new only to find out that with using the old frame, we won’t be getting the buy one get one free deal and it and if we were to get new ones, it would cost about the same amount albeit a little bit cheaper.

So we decided on getting her 2 new pairs that cost us about $500 because we chose the lenses which has that scratch proof thingie and very thin lenses, so that it won’t weigh so much on her.  We then donated the old ones to kids who needed them.  Chloe loves her new glasses and couldn’t wait to show them off to her friends at school.  We are not spendthrift but when it comes to the kid, we want the best for her, especially if it is a necessity.

A Gift From Spain

Look what came in the mail for me !  woohoo!  a gift from my ex-boss wife – Manuela.  Yup! I did some translation work for their daughter who was in Shanghai working and needed some immigration papers done quickly.  So when they emailed me the documents, I had done the translation work for her so that she can get it notarized and all but I had refused any money from them.  So today, this came from Fedex and I was really touched because you and I know that a Hermes is not cheap but I don’t know when I will have a chance to wear it because unlike many years ago, I needed to attend company’s functions and cocktails, now I mostly go help out at the store or work on my online work and look after Chloe.  Maybe, when I go on vacation eh – haha!  when PB finds time to bring us for a short break, I tell you that man is a real workaholic!  *sigh* !  oh well!  Thank you, Mr Hernandez and Manuela!

Not Very Domestic

I’m not very domestic and worst when it comes to gardening.  After living in my house for 8 yrs, I finally have a flower bed and it had to be made by someone !!!!  failure – hahahhahaa!!  too expensive to pay for a flower bed like that $200 but I guess everything cost money – therefore, I’m only getting one for now till I can afford to get another one.  Well, afford isn’t the right word, just when I feel a need to get another one to make my front yard look better I guess.

Fireworks

Fireworks was yesterday and we had to go of course, since Chloe was all excited over it.  But since nobody said anything to meet up or not, we didn’t care to organize anything but to go on our own.  But of course, my dear g/f was looking for us in a panic mode when we were all ready to head out and i didn’t bring my cellphone of course.

Anyhow, we enjoyed the fireworks although PB sat to have his sandwich, such a spoil sport but Chloe had a lot of fun and of course, I was wondering the whole night if my g/f was alright.  Now why can’t people make arrangements earlier?

Tall & Skinny

When Chloe’s new doctor told her that she was at risk of being overweight – she was so paranoid she learned to read – how much calories every thing she picked up to eat.  Yes!  horrible isn’t it and we didn’t even teach her to do that, she just did it on her own.  But no she wasn’t overweight or anything near it – kids go thru’ growth spurts and we tried to explain to Chloe about it.  So if your family doctor tells you something along the same lines about your kid – please don’t get overly excited because they do grow up and the baby fats do go.

But of course, having said that, there are kids that really need to watch out like one of chloe’s friend but how can you tell a kid that she is overweight or obese right?  Nor am I gonna tell her parents because for all you know, she might have a health condition.  But as a parent, I’m sure you know your kid best, so if they are really in that category, do something now before it’s too late.

True Friends

I never really got comfy with a lot of people for a long time till Lynette came along, she has a heart of gold and she is constantly trying to do nice things for everyone.  She might not have a lot but if she is ever a millionaire, you can bet on Lynette to give away half her fortune to friends, family and the needy.

I’m so happy that we got to celebrate her birthday with her this year, and I  know that she is really happy this  year because her daughter has the bestest  boyfriend who is not only a good boy  but a good influence to her.  I wish happiness always for Lynette and loads of money.

Father’s Day 2013

Well, it had been a pretty busy month for us thus far – with a friend leaving and helping a girlfriend thru’ a hard time and another friend visiting from Australia.  So I thought I should update a little and let you all know that we are doing great – and that it had just been a very busy month for all of us.

Father’s day came and went – this year we had a BBQ as well – because that was what the father-in-law had wanted although PB wasn’t too keen on it as BBQ doesn’t go well with his tummy.  But he ended up BBQing grouchily – hahhaha! because John and George wasn’t good at it.  So next year I’ll remember to invite Garth and Jerry instead – those are the uncles who loved BBQing.

Chloe is at the end of her school term and as usual, we are busy with a lot of school activities during this month, from school luncheons to field trip days but overall, she is doing well, although she came down with a cold a few weeks ago.  Her lil’ friend layla left for Ottawa – so she was devastated for abit.  But they can skype alot because Chloe has a mini-ipad and the girls can keep in touch that way.

The store is still doing great – we are still looking for a bigger place to buy or rent – but nothing is really available at the moment, so we will continue striving good at this location.  The backyward had been hydro-seeded and we are looking forward to a warm and long summer.  More later.

Measure Your Friendship

In our lives, we’ve come across many people, some are just acquaintances and others are friends for life. But how do one measure friendship?  do one give your all to a friendship and not count the time and the money you are going to spend on that friendship.  Some people do and others are more calculative or others are only friends with you if you are someone important or they can benefit them thru’ your friendship.  In my 48 yrs, I’ve seen so many of these people and it’s kinda hard to admit that one is taken for a ride all the time.  But to me every friend is important, till they decided to go crazy on you.  I try not to associate with people who have motives but my these two girlfriends are like sisters to me – and they are the ones who have been very closed to me for the last few months.  I’m grateful for their friendship, for their love and for their thoughtfulness towards me.

And this was what we had bought for our girlfriend who is leaving for Ottawa.  And all my other sisters from another mother helped to chip in and buy this.  Not all of them have a lot of money but they value her friendship as much as I.

Interesting Read For Cigar Lovers

The father – in – law who loves cigars mentioned about  jonathan drew  and his column.  Intrigue by what he read, he told me to go read Jonathan Drew on the internet. And being the curious me, I loved reading and finding out just about anything, plus I do like the smell of cigar and maybe, this column can recommend some good places to buy cigars and how to differentiate a good cigar from a mediocre one. For those cigar lovers out there, check out this column, and although it  might be a bit shocking at first when you on the website, you will definitely get a better insight of cigars from this column and webpage.
