CPF and Us Abroad

For Singaporeans living abroad like I.. one gotta wonder .. what is going on with all your CPF money. Just for your info, CPF do not send me anything.. in papers .. unless they want you to be insured for something thru’ your CPF money.

In order to keep abreast about what is going on.. you have to keep either going back to the site.. or can information from other bloggers in Singapore. I find it very annoying.. because ppl like me have substantial amount in my CPF .. and we can do nothing about it.. till they decide or make up their mind what the retirement age would be. Every year you hear different stories.

When i was much younger.. during my mother’s time, you can get your CPF money out by the age of 55 but now.. they raised it every year.. and for ppl who have been abroad for so many years.. we donch really know what is going on. And yes.. i hate it. I was reading an article on another blogger’s blog and was trying to find info on it.. to clarify some stuff.. but looking at everything i have online.. i can’t find the info that i want. So donch mind me.. and my ranting..!! i wanna know .. when i can get my money out..!! Arrrghhh..!!

New BYOB rule in the Province

Oh boy..!! i didn’t know that there isn’t a BYOB rule here in Nova Scotia till today..!! You know in asia .. we take for granted .. when we want to bring our own wine.. and pay for the corkage .. right..?? But here apparently.. they only implemented the rule just a few days ago.

Common as it is a practice back home.. here owners of restaurants are not happy at all with it. Some even said.. they won’t let their guest/s open the bottle, for they are selling the bottles and making more money.

Well.. even with the new regulation.. diners are asked to call ahead .. to the restaurant before doing it. Quite backwards for a place like Canada eh..??

Check Your Playpen

This is NOT a SPONSORED POST!

There are loads of blogging mummies out there.. and some have very young children.. and some are having another coming. The reason why I am concerned is because when Chloe was about 6 months old.. we brought her up to Halifax.. because I needed a check up in IWK hospital for my immigration work. The hotel that we stayed in did have a playpen .. for Chloe to sleep in .. and I think .. it’s the same that was mentioned in the news today.

“Parents received a stern warning Tuesday to check their children’s playpens after an 11-month-old British Columbia boy died earlier this month.”

No to Americanada

We all know that the Canadians protest alot.. ! Not that ppl from other places donch..! but trust me.. the Canadians protest ALOT..!! especially about pay dispute..! Irregardless.. whether you are a nurse .. a doctor.. or even the immigration offices.. yes.. there are days.. where they would not go into work for days before they would come to a settlement.

So i wasn’t surprised at all.. when 500 protesters took part in a march outside the hotel, carrying signs with slogans such as “No to Americanada.” in Quebec when the three Amigos met. Who are the 3 amigos..?? TheCanadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, U.S. President Bush and Mexican President Felipe Calderon, here to discuss issues including border security and free trade.

Donch Play, Play with The Natives In Canada

The Natives “Indians” in Canada.. who received all sorts of privileges from the Canadian government because they were the first settlers in Canada.. donch have to pay taxes for anything they purchase here in Canada. They donch have to buy houses.. because the Native Community will build them a house in the reserve .. and they sort of live by their own codes.

And donch you play, play with the natives here.. because .. the Federal Government and courts are paying out 1.9 billion to former students who claimed to be sexually, physically and/or psychologically abused at the 130 schools that were jointly run by the government.. and religious organization until the mid 70s.

You will never find this kinda compensation .. as much as $34K for each individual .. in Asia, not from the garmen nor the individual. So why Canada so special leh..?? Asians not as “laku” ka..??

Preparing for a Pounding

While we are here preparing for a nice Sunday outing.. Hurricane Dean Roars into Jamaica and the Jamaicans are preparing to get pounded..!

I donch know if you are aware of it or not.. but Canadians.. loves to take their holidays in the Caribbean.. and one of the spots they go to.. on a yearly basis is Jamaica. I hear that some from Canada is stranded there.. because Air Canada had canceled some flights.

Those in Cayman Islands are stranded because flights are only operated on Sundays. And airports are closed on late Saturday nite..! I would really be devastated.. if i were there on holiday and can’t find alternative to bring my families home safely .. and what about those who have got loved ones stranded there.. and can’t do anything.. because the airport is closed..?? Can’t even hire a private jet.. to bring them home.

So say you have someone in Cayman Islands.. and no flights going there till sunday.. what would you do..?? Yes.. i would try to hire a private jet.. to bring them home. I know it’s gonna be expensive.. but i’ll do what it takes.. to bring them home for sure. Even if it means.. everything i have. What about you..?? What would you do..??

Important: Nursing moms & Infants
