Approaching 50 !

In a few months or so, i will be turning 50 – 5 decades, the real 5 0  !!  wow!  surreal ?  a little but I think this year had been such a productive year for me and a lot of growing done.   You must be wondering about the growing part right?  what is  this about the growing ?  after all, at almost 50 what the hell “growing”  am I talking about ?

When you are approaching 50, you tell yourself, you don’t really want to care a lot about what people think of you but to live life to its fullest and do whatever makes me happy.  So this year, I concentrated on doing what i love most, blogging and vlogging and boy!  was it a great experience being able to network with other vloggers and bloggers.  This year, I concentrated on what’s most important to us, meaning, chloe and the spouse and since we have been investing more on properties and buying and renting, it had kept us busy for the most part.  And I’ve done away with a lot of people around my life.  Being “friendly”  is not enough to be considered a friend no more, I have no time for “friendly”.

I also quickly realized that at almost 50, I didn’t want to waste time on people you don’t care to be with or be friendly to.    And I don’t want to do things that I feel oblige to do or be polite to people I don’t want to be polite to.  I don’t want to go beyond my call of duty to please or be a do gooder ,  I just want to do what makes me truly happy.

As I’m approaching my 50, I couldn’t care less about what others think of me or my blog, I  want to write what i feel or how i feel at that particular moment and not having to worry about the person reading about it might get offended.  Because it ain’t about them, it’s about me and how I feel and the situation I was in at that point of time.  I don’t want to bend over backwards for people who ain’t important in my life or worry about what they would think of me if I didn’t do what is “appropriate”

This year, because of my “growing up”  I’ve traveled a lot more and networked so much with both Google and Youtube that I could never have done before,  had I worried about what people would think of me leaving my daughter with the spouse alone for days.  In other words , when you’ve lived almost 5 decades, what’s most important in life is me, myself and my family, the rest can take their turns when I have the time.  If they don’t like it, it’s not my problem.   What’s is important is getting enough rest and giving enough time for my daughter and spouse and taking care of our health and most importantly not having apologize for being a success in our life, both home and at work.

There’s no pretending here nor am I ashamed to write I have the best spouse and the best kid (in my humble opinion), we have a successful business and we own our own place and a cottage by the beach and many acres of land to develop as well as several houses out for rent.  I can also  afford to up and travel anytime I want and buy anything I want not just need.   We have enough money saved up for Chloe’s college and a little more for her traveling.  If people are offended because of it, so be it.   They are entitled to their opinion and it doesn’t affect us one bit.

When you are almost 50, like yours truly,  you can tell people exactly what you think of them and stop making excuses for their behavior.   When you are almost 50, it’s okay if another do not agree with the way you are bringing up your kid or the way you speak or write, it’s not my problem, if they want to take it whatever way they want.    When you are almost 50 like I, you don’t have to like everyone, and you can ignore your crazy ex – neighbor, crazy church friends as well as your crazy customers.

PS  :  At almost 50, it’s ok not to have to justify what you do online or offline to anyone especially to people who are insignificant in your life.

Family Insurance

Yes, yes !  we did buy another house in town for investment , it is currently rented out to a couple who moved from Vancouver to here.  And just the other day, Chloe had asked if we had insurance for all our properties, in which I had replied that we certainly do.  Our current insurance company is just as good as  allred insurance  that my g/f uses in the USA for all her investment properties as well as health and life insurance.

Chloe is constantly worried about fire and us dying, I have no idea why.  If someone’s place is on fire from out of town, she is afraid that ours could be by a bush fire or an electrical outlet malfunction.  Just this morning, she told me, I hope you don’t die *slap forehead*  I don’t know why she comes up with things like that.  So I told her she don’t have anything to worry about because PB and I have life insurance, health insurance, the houses and cottages are insured, so we are pretty much quite safe.

Welcoming Spring

For years, I’ve wanted to get a bicycle to go riding and to exercise.  I’ve always loved biking when I was home some 14 yrs ago, we would go to East Coast parkway and rent a bike and ride on the beach front.  For those from home, you will know what I mean, the bike was for rental at $5 and you can ride as long as you want.  I loved it because I didn’t want to carry my bike in  my car and bring it all the way to the beach.

But over here in this town, it’s too small to have a bike rental service in the summer, in Miami – they also have bike rentals but of course, in Miami there is the beach too!  Anyhow, I’m going off topic again, I finally bought a bike, I shall take pictures of it soon for you and I’m absolutely stoke !  I can’t wait to go out for a ride with Chloe and PB, well, it’s more to keep Chloe company.

Private Swimming Class

So we’ve finally convinced Chloe to go back to swimming classes at the YMCA and this time, she is going for private lessons?  why?  not because we are rich or because she is privileged but because in her previous group class, she didn’t really get to learn a lot.  It was like the school lessons all over again – and she came out of the group lessons not learning how to swim *sigh*

So this time round, we’ve decided she is going for private lessons – so that she can get the one to one attention and the instructor can see how he can go about teaching her the way he deem fit.  Chloe had hoped for a girl swimming instructor  but she ended up with a boy – now hopefully she isn’t too distracted by the boy instructor and don’t learn anything.  You know she is at the age, where she is having crushes on the opposite sex even though she denies it – hahha! but she asked me if i thought her swimming instructor was handsome hahahha!!

Yoga At Work

A few of the girls around the block decided that we have to go for yoga before work, so here I am going out to find yoga pants for this office yoga session. For $5 a session, I think it’s a great idea – because yoga relaxes me a lot and I wished more people could see the benefit of going to yoga. There are some yoga stuff that they sell at the yoga studio here but not yoga pants, so I had to find them online and it’s way cheaper I heard from the girls who had gone to the city and bought them there. Anyhow, I’m looking forward to office yoga everyday before work, it’s definitely a great way to start the year.

Balanced Diet

We do try to teach her to eat a balanced diet – even when she is at school – we stick a few strawberries on stick to make it interesting enough for her to wanna eat fruits.  And sometimes she does it herself like today.  I don’t say that she doesn’t eat junk but we do try to give her a little of everything and wished she wouldn’t be so fussy with her food but at 9 years old she is still so fussy.

But at least she does eat her fruits everyday and sometimes a few times a day if we can help it.

A Wood Stove Finally!

Yes, we finally got the wood stove in and will be installed within a few days.  We have been trying to get someone to install the wood stove since summer when the basement was done – but Home Hardware don’t seems to want us business – since they didn’t really managed to send someone to come install it.  We finally went to Pleasant Supply instead. and they came thru’ for us and we will be getting the stove installed soon.  And ppl complained that they can’t find work in this town – now that’s bullshit!

Rainy Season

We just got back from lunch at the Chinese Restaurant and it was drizzling a little but we also noticed that there were water leaking thru’ the window’s at the restaurant and wonder if the owners knew about it. The  window replacement newport news va  would be the place to introduce them to if they needed replacement of windows but I guess since it is a rented place, the landlord would take care of it.  Any rain coming into windows is never good news at all and must be taken care of immediately else there will be mold in the house and water damage in other areas that needs repair.  I don’t know if I should point this out to the owners without sounding too busybody or how i should do it. Sure they are friends but I don’t want to be seen as being pushy which is not good at all.

A Man’s Thing

A customer at the store had recommended that we get the  antimicrobial hand wheels  for something that the PB was working on – so when I was out shopping, I thought I would stop in the hardware store and ask them if they had any for me to buy.  But of course, I didn’t know what it was and how much it would cost nor where to look for it but I did try.  Anyhow, I didn’t find it in the end but PB told me he knows where to get it and told me not to worry about it.  I guess stuff like that is a man’s thing eh – so I’m not going to worry about it and let the boss get it and finish up what he was supposed to do months ago.

Medication and I

I have no trouble taking medication as you all know – but meds are not cheap in Canada and I’m one of the luckier ones who have insurance that will take care of pretty much half of what I have to pay for in my daily meds.  I take a lot of them from medication for diabetes, to high blood pressure and cholesterol as well. Recently, I had to take an anti-depressant because of my anxiety attacks – and that alone cost tons of money.  So I’m really grateful to have gotten the insurance – else I would be like half of the town needing to buy their medication cheap online like  on this website – http://www.shoppharmacycounter.com/t-Adipex-Medicine.aspx  and I don’t blame them for doing that – especially if one of the antibiotics cost like $500 for a prescription.   No! I’m so not kidding – a customer of mine had this problem with a sore and it was eating into his flesh – but because he wasn’t insured – he can’t afford to get the meds.  It’s scarey especially since he is diabetic like myself.   So for those who thinks that medication is free in Canada or that Education is free – it’s not entirely true.  To a certain extend they are – but not all.
