Annual Fund Raising For Chloe’s School

Yup! it’s that time of the year again!  my fund raising drive is here for Chloe’s school.  We started late this year because we had been so busy both at the store and home front. This year I hope to raise as much as we did last year or more – wish me luck!

Folks must be thinking why I raised fund so aggressively for the school – but I only do it once a year and it’s for a good cause – afterall, my kid also use the school right and one has gotta help out the school wherever possible not?  I hope the school will continue to do a good job – I really liked the present Principal a lot!

The Very Sassy Kid

Chloe is almost 9 yrs old  – well, short of a few months and boyyy! is she sassy this kid !  sometimes I wonder if it is because we are too lax with her or are we giving her too much freedom to express herself.  We haven’t really punished the Chloe before and even before we could, she would start crying and say she is worried about getting punished *slapped forehead*.  But things gotta change I told PB because I can’t have a sassy kid growing up in our household, so these days before she can turn too sassy, we stop her and tell her what the consequences are if she continued.  Normally, she would stop but when we have friends over, she does try and push her limits – so we will continue to monitor this situation because I definitely don’t want to bring up a brat for a kid.

Winter Boots For The Kid

Fall is definitely here by the weather we got today and even though we don’t like to see Christmas decoration for sale in the mall, we have to face the fact that Mr Winter is coming whether we like it or not.  The school had sent home notice about sledding and snowboarding and that helmet is now required but not compulsory yet.   Time to get Chloe some  Snowboard Boots  before we can’t find the right size and color for her.  Anything pink is good but I have to buy something slightly bigger for her because she refused to wear anything that is fitting for her feet.   I don’t know if it is a good thing but whenever we feel that the shoes or boots fits her perfectly, she tells us otherwise.   A good fitting shoe and boots is very important for a child who is still in the growing stages but she is stubborn, if it hurts her feet, she rather not wear it, so a good snowboard boots is important for her.

Home Made Jam For Thanksgiving

So Thanksgiving is round the corner and I’m at a lost as what to get for her new teachers this year.  This year Chloe is in Grade 3 – she is in an upstairs class and everything is new with her even her teacher and her teacher’s aid.  I didn’t want to not give anything because we do what to give thanks to good teachers for our children right?  and in the end we decided on some home made jam made by Grampie – I thought that wasn’t too shabby.  Of course I paid grampie for the Jam and went home and gotten both PB and Chloe to decorate the Jam bottles but they didn’t do it the way I wanted them to.  So when Chloe went to bed that night I re-did the whole shaping up the bottles to make them look pretty.  So they are all ready for giving away to the teachers on Friday.

Growing Up With Chloe Grade 3

Today is the start of Grade 3 for Chloe.  She was all excited and wanted to get to school on time.  We put on new clothes for her from Gymboree and The Children’s place and after breakfast, we headed for school.  Got there just in time, because she needed to use the washroom before we left.  She was happy when we left her in her class room and her new teacher seems great and have many years of experience , so I’m sure she will be a happy student this year too.

Back To After School Program

We’ve decided to let Chloe go back to the after school program today because the weather was so nice – and also because of what happened last Sunday.  We went out to visit Grampie because her Godma came from Toronto but they were so tired – no one wanted to play with her.  Poor Chloe had so much energy but there was just no one who wanted to go out and play – PB did go out for a bit after a lot of sulking from Chloe but I felt so bad for her so I decided that the after school program would do her some good.  She came home all sun burnt but happy with all the things she did at the after school program and this time – they seems to take better care of her – so lets hope it will continue.  Poor Chloe without Grammie things are going to be a lot different – and all grammie’s sisters who promised to baked with Chloe and look out for her – well, we haven’t seen them since the funeral.  *sigh* – this summer is going to be a hard summer for poor Chloe.

Taking Advantage Of A Discount

Yes, even though we didn’t need the labels for this year since everything that needed labeling was done in September last year – I took advantage of a discount from Mabel Labels – at 20% off the labels.  Some parents might think that paying so much for labels is not worth it – when you can use those permanent markers and mark everything that belongs to your kid.  Sure you can – but you only are cute for a certain period of their lives and so why not take advantage of that and give them the cutest things to go with their cuteness right?  Sure it’s a lot of money – but it is worth it as the labels do last a long time – and they don’t peel off.   I did get some from Etsy thinking that they are cheaper and i wanted to support the locally made ones – but they peeled off and was so disappointing – so when it comes to labels my faith is on Mabel labels.

Rounding Up 2011

A round up for 2011 – since it’s coming so closed to the end of the year.  So what have I done right or wrong for 2011 – what are my achievements for 2011.  Well, I started out wanting to be a healthier me – in 2011 and started with going to the dentist – but instead of making me smile – a few hundred dollars later – I came home with a few months of pain in the exact teeth that I had a filling – that wasn’t even bugging me.

Far forward a few months – summer came – Chloe finished her Grade 1 with good results but still having trouble with standing up for herself.  And this summer Chloe started playing with the neighborhood kids – and on the trampoline as well.  She had a great time doing that but not without a lot of getting used to – to other kids and compromising.    She went to day camp every day because she liked it a lot and had a good summer.  We only went out of town twice – this year – because the store had been so busy. Work wise at the store and myself – it had been a great year.  This year my regular advertisers were great to me and  i had a lot more private advertisers than I did last year.

Health wise – I’m still struggling to lose weight – and stay healthy but I have to work harder next year.  I also took control of my online life and gave up some games and some friends online – best moved I’ve made.  I didn’t have time for the online games (fb or mahjong) – nor did I have time to take care of others (because I started taking pills for my anxiety attacks).  I spent a lot more time with Chloe and helping her with doing well in school and reading especially.  I also took care of the house and myself a lot more than I did when I was taking care of others.  This year – Chloe did well in school and socially, I made more friends than I did in my entire life both online and offline – spent more time with friends from here – and gotten a friend to help out at the store in May and it is still working perfectly well – no stress ! thank God!   This year I got more involved with the things happening around downtown and this town.  This year things had to change because I had to set my priority right and I’m glad I did what I did – because some people are never happy with the good things that is happening in your life.  The business tripled its sale from the previous years and we had more customers come thru’ our door more than the last few years.  We also ate more often out – and going to different places to try different food around town and a little ways out of town.

This year had been a great year – despite a few unpleasant things – I count my blessings.  What about you?

Chloe’s Concert 2011

Chloe had her concert in the church today and her grammie and grampie came too !  which was a good thing because she wanted so much for them to see her on the stage.  The kids were so cute – I tell yer – they grow so fast.

PS :  now if you see your kid’s picture on this blog and you don’t want them to be – just let me know – don’t need to get crazy ok.

Raised $725 For School

Yes ! Chloe raised $725 for her school – thanks to the many generous uncles and aunties online and her Kai Mah – plus all the customers at our store.  So here is prove that the money had gone to the school and Chloe won in bringing in the most money and thus she got to cut her principal’s hair.  She had so much fun it was hilarious.
