Test Driving New Cars

We are having finding them to look for a new car.  Our Ford Focus still serves us well but it’s almost 10 years old now, so we decided that it’s time to get a new car.  Also when we travel, we need a bigger car now since we have Hyunjin with us on almost all our vacation for the last 1.5 yrs.  So PB said, we need a bigger car, so that it can fit all our luggage and stuff we need to buy.  I was very touched that PB is thinking of Hyunjin too when he is getting the new car because we don’t wanna leave Hyunjin in town while we go on vacation right?

Hopefully, we find the right car, at the right price and of course it has to be auto this time, so that either Hyunjin or I can drive it too.  So come back soon and check out which car we are buying.  Thus far, we have tried the Chevy Impalla and Toyota, we also like the Honda but the Mazda isn’t too bad either.

8 As 4 Bs

We just got back from Parents and Teacher’s meet yesterday and as usual, it was a very successful one.  We really love chloe’s home room teachers this year.  So many positive things to say about Chloe and very encouraging to us as parents.  We cannot thank them enough – and wished we could do more for the teachers.

Yes, Chloe scored 8 As and 4 Bs, but I still feel that she can apply herself more for I know she can definitely do better.  Just like her piano lessons and practices, I know she can do a lot better if she apply  herself a little more.  So during the school holidays, she has to continue doing revision work with us and practice her piano as well.

Don’t get me wrong, we are very proud of her but we want her to work just a wee bit harder next term, so that she can understand each subject better and have a better foundation before going to junior high school.

Mrs Purdy Is Very Lucky

So apparently Chloe thinks that I’m not as lucky as Mrs Purdy (her principal’s wife) – why?  well, the other day she came home after her school’s assembly and said that Mr Purdy was so funny, telling them a joke during the assembly and that was when she thought Mrs Purdy is so lucky to have a funny husband.  hahahhaha!!!

Her dad being so grouchy all the time, I figured she must think I’m not so lucky hahhahaha!!  so I guess Chloe like men who are funny – ahhhh.. now we know – hahhhaa! the things kids say eh. The things kids observed and come to a deduction on their own only tells us how important it is to portray the right image to our kids.

So yes, her principal is doing a great job – that’s for sure, she has nothing but nice things to say about both Mr & Mrs Purdy!

Birthday Party For Her Bears

Chloe loves her bears very much – actually, she loves all her toys very much.  She refuses to dirty them, refuses to bring them anywhere that they will get smelly or dirty.  The one on the right is Honey Bear, we bought it for her from the yard sale and Coconut is the most recent one that we bought for her during our recent trip to Halifax.  She has another called Peace bear and she loves them all the same.

So one day, she came back from school and wanted to plan a birthday party for her bears and invited some of her friends to the house on the weekend.  I of course, knew that no one was coming because it was gonna be on Saturday and at 6pm, so I suggested that if no one came, we could have it at her Grampie’s.  I told her that I bet Aunt Helena would bake with her and so forth.

So she relented and looked forward to weekend at Grampie’s.  Some may say that we are spoiling her and over-indulging her but I think that it was really cute and she is only a kid once, so why not?  While PB grudging bought a cake and informed chloe that he ain’t doing this every year, I felt that we should cherish this innocence as long as we can.

Kid’s Cutlery From Advertiser

I complained to my private advertiser from USA about not finding the right cutlery for Chloe to bring to school for lunch because the only ones I could find were for babies or toddlers.  So guess what arrived in the mail this morning at the store?  2 sets of cutlery for Chloe! woohoo!!  I’m indeed grateful for my advertiser whom I’ve worked with for many years now, this private advertiser had always given good paying work and after so many years of working together, we turned into friends.

While many people feel that working online is a tough job, I enjoyed it tremendously, not only because of the work and money but because I not only find good friends thru’ advertising but I get to try out a lot of things before writing about them.  As the years go by,  doing what I do online, I know which advertisers are awesome and can give you leads to better paying jobs and which advertisers gives you a row of steady jobs throughout the year.  I’m grateful for all of them.

Gifts From New Zealand

Not too long ago, we received a box filled with goodies from Japan, Tokyo and today, we received another box from New Zealand.  I’m so BLESSED!!!!  I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all my friends from around the world.  They send me so much stuff – I can’t even finish eating and using them on my own.

I’ve known Margie for many years, this lady flies all over the world !  a globetrotter I tell yer – and she is so sweet – skin care and chocolate from New Zealand.  Thank you Margie !  you didn’t have to do that !  but I love everything!

Dressing Up For A Wedding

We’ve been invited for a wedding in the Spring ! woohoo!  it’s so easy to dress up a man but for us ladies, well, we have more work to do.  Connecticut here we come but wait a minute, I know that PB is wearing a  a tuxedo vest  but what will I be wearing?  I’ve made a date with my girlfriends and we are going shopping at our local mall for the Spring wedding.  Spring weddings are always so beautiful because the weather in Connecticut will be so gorgeous and we are so looking forward to it.

Gift From Tokyo, Japan

I’m so touched !  you don’t know how touched I am today ! when the postman came with this huge box of gift from Tokyo, Japan.  You see, my girlfriend from Singapore (home) went on a vacation to Japan and instead of just relaxing and having fun, she bought all these goodies of food and gifts for Chloe and mailed it to us here in Canada – all the way from Japan !  tell me how heartfelt this is right?  I mean come on .. who would go on vacation and pick up things for a friend and send it from Japan ????  not many people but this dear friend Alice did!

Inside the box were goodies from Japan and toys and a huggable bear for Chloe and lots of stickers as well as fridge magnets.  Oh so thoughtful this girlfriend of mine.  She is always so kind but she isn’t the only one, I have lots of girlfriends from home who sends me stuff all the time.  And for your friendship and thoughtfulness, I am forever grateful.

Chinese New Year 2014

Chinese New Year is tomorrow and as I sit here looking at the “ang pow” that came in the mail this morning for Chloe from family and friends, I cannot help but miss home.

When I was a kid, Chinese New Year was not only about wearing new clothes, stuffing our face with junk food and candies all day or receiving “ang pows” from our parents as well as aunts and uncles and neighbors and any elders, it’s about family gatherings.  Chinese New Year was a tradition, everyone come home to celebrate whether you are far away or you are in Singapore.  It’s about close family ties and bonding and meeting up with cousins that we don’t see often and exchanging stories and sharing the children’s achievements in school and of course, lots of gossiping about the family.  It was a time of joy, a time where we show our appreciation for our parents and grandparents.

Chloe and I made our usual call to my mom and our uncles and aunties today and wished them “Gong Hei Fatt Choy” and as usual, they want to know when we are bringing Chloe home to meet them. They are so excited when they hear Chloe tell them that she will come visit soon and of course, my mom tells her how much she misses Chloe.  Bitter sweet, every year and every year I just have this urge to pack and fly home immediately.  *sigh* ! yes, bitter sweet, every year but we will be home soon.
