I think i perfected cooking red bean soup in a slow cooker .. by accident.. kekkeke!!
I wanted to boil red bean soup a few days ago.. and had soaked the red beans .. only to realised.. that i didn’t have any orange peel… and dried ones.. for that matter. And since .. only PB can go shopping .. while i man the store.. i told him what to get.. but of course.. he being so “actsy borak” .. got annoyed when i asked him if he knew what kind of orange to buy..?? So in the end.. he bought me the wrong kinda orange. I needed “kum” .. not “orange” and i had tried to tell him the difference.. but you know lah.. “chao ang moh” donch know the difference.. and sounded like i think he was stupid or something.. so i didn’t pursue it lor.. and let him be. So of course the orange was wrong lah.. so cannot use that nite.
So had to wait for another day.. to buy the orange. So after soaking the beans for more than a day.. i threw them into the slow cooker. When the dessert was boiling.. i put in some longan .. because i didn’t have any gingko nuts.. nor white nuts. After which i put in some “rock sugar” .. and not to much. And it turned out perfect..!
I had half a pot of red bean soup between yesterday and today.. all on my own. Bummer..! both Chloe and PB .. didn’t wanna have anything to do with the dessert. But i have to honestly say.. it’s one of the best tasted red bean/longan soup i’ve cooked myself.
