Friends Again

Yup! they are friends again ! and even though Nova was upset with Chloe the other day – they became friends again quickly and had forgotten why they were upset with each other.  Now if only it was this simple with adults eh but I guess kids are so innocent and pure – they forgive and forget and know that it’s not right to be upset for too long – else no friends to play with.  As for Chloe – she don’t even know why Nova was so upset over nothing the other day – but nevertheless she apologized – what a good kid.

She Volunteered

It was raining hard yesterday and since Chloe had no school for the last 3 days – school marking days – she volunteered to mop the floor at the store and clean the store up.  What a good kid I have eh!  Sometimes, when she doesn’t clean up her mess, I forget that she is only 8 yrs old!  I cannot ask for another better kid – I am truly blessed.

Godma Lynn Is Back

Godma Lynn is back in town for a week – and we already had a BBQ at the lodge with her – and it was really fun for Chloe despite the fact that she didn’t wanna get out of the car because there were dogs at the lodge.  PB finally managed to carry her out of the car and get her into the lodge.   We really had fun yesterday at the lodge – lots of good food and good company and I had brought along my korean friend with me to the lodge and she was happy to meet everyone.

For The Love Of My Daughter

Everyone knows that Chloe is the love of my life and I would give anything to keep her safe and happy.  Ever since Grammie passed away, I’ve been thinking alot about my own health as well as PB and a more secure future for Chloe in the event that something does happened to us.  No one wants to be sick or get into an accident but if something does happen to me, I want PB to have time away from work to look after Chloe without stressing about money or what to do with the business.  I looked into some  term life insurance rates  to see if I can up my insurance, because as it is – PB already spent too much time at the store and don’t have much time for Chloe but should something happen to me, I would want him to be with Chloe more than he is right now. Losing a loved one is very devastating and this is the one time, I don’t want Chloe to be on her own and the only way PB can have more time for her is to be able to have enough money to hire others to take care of the store.

Father’s Day Without Grammie

Today marks the first Father’s day without Grammie and many more to come.  Sad of course and we wanted to make sure that Grampie wasn’t alone on this day.  So we had a BBQ and the last time we had a BBQ at Grammie and Grampie’s, Grammie was still around and I believed it was last year’s Father’s day.  Sad.  But Grammie isn’t forgotten like Chloe said – she is always around in our heart and she is alive in Heaven according to Chloe – so sweet yet so sad.  I told PB that this summer I wanna create memories for Chloe – and not just concentrate on making money alone.  You cannot make all the money -but you definitely can make memories with Chloe.

Investing In Our Business

So our new store sign is up and we are pretty happy with it.  After 13 years in business, we figured a new sign is appropriate and after all – we do need a real new sign that shows that we’ve been in business for this long and still going strong.  And like all business, it’s the smart thing to do else the government is going to think that you’ve made so much money and would tax you even more.  And like most  commercial insurance companies  that we’ve come to know, they too advised us to get small business insurance not only for liability purpose but also to use it for a tax write off and of course, like any small businesses like ours – we really need to look into insurance and even if we don’t think we need it – it’s good to explore and invest in our own business.  And yes, we are in this stage where we are pretty comfortable in investing into our own business.

Doing Good Unto Others

This year with the store doing so much better and with our health all good, we figured we should give back to society and do more charitable work.  We have given more time locally to do charitable work and also given out more stuff from the store whenever someone approached us.  Recently, we have given something expensive and donated money to a local cause that we felt was neglected by the government and we are raising funds for this group.   Many years ago, I’ve heard about a  car donation service  and what it does for people from different countries.  PB and I had discussed about doing a bigger donation at the end of this year – besides giving to Haiti as Haiti had been the town’s main priority for years.   Hopefully, we are able to give back more with the more we make but we want to do it as low key as possible, that way people won’t be jealous that we are making money enough to give away.  You never know how people think and I guess there are the odd people around – who would try to do you harm when all you want to do is to do good unto others.  So lesson learned, we want to continue donating but quietly.

Children Bear No Grudges

Children bear no grudges – they may be fighting one day but the next day they forget and become good friends again.  It’s only us adults who cannot get over things and stop talking to each other or avoid each other.  We really have to take a page from our kid’s life and be like them – and not bear grudges and let bygones be bygones but it’s of course easier said than done.  So when you kids keep coming back and whining about stuff to you – you may wanna check yourself first and see if you are behaving this way – children pick up their behavior from their parents and those they are closest with.  Having said that, I guess I better check myself – because I know PB is not a whiner – so it has to be me – muahahha!!  see there is so much to learn from being a parent.

Business Is Good

When business is good (knock on wood)  and the inventory is plenty already, you kinda think of ways to spend your money back into  the business and we are this way too.  Besides having a new door in the front of the store, we are putting also a screen door at the back.  A new sign in the front of the store and now we are considering a new Retail POS System  as well.  I guess that’s the move one has to take to upgrade the store and keep it up to date and the demands of your customers.  And with a new POS system – I know for sure we can track our inventory better and it’s always a tax write off when it comes to tax time.  While others are complaining that business is no good, we count our blessings that we have good and loyal customers and everyday it seems like more people are knowing our business – so can’t complain.

Simply Joyous

Last week, Chloe and I spent the afternoon with good friends Lynette and Josh.  Lynette was a customer who turned into a friend – a good one indeed – always there for me – and always fetching me about and she never say one thing bad about anyone or anything.  When we spend time together – with our kids, it’s all about having fun and enjoying the day with each other.

Chloe had so much fun feeding the ducks because Lynette was so generous with not only her time but buying fresh bread to feed the duckies and doing all the running around with Chloe – and always paying attention to Chloe’s every word – I cannot ask for more in a friend.  You can always count of Lynette and Josh for a good time and they never ever ask you anything personal.

Some friends of mine from back home – they want to know every detail of your life – even to the most intimate – but not Lynette – she respect your privacy yet she would listen to you patiently.  I’m so blessed with good friends.
