A Very Bored Kid

So what do you do with a very bored kid on a snowy day?  well, I let mine go out and lay on the snow and do whatever she wants – kids loved it and although I don’t like that she is getting herself all wet, I figured it would be better to let her let out her frustrations because she didn’t have anyone to play with.  The problem with an only child – and a child who doesn’t know how to play with many people because she is so bossy.

Friends asked all the time for play dates but i know that if they go unsupervised both kids would be very upset with each other, so unless I have time to sit down with them and the energy, I rather not.  But my only consolation is – she plays well with a few kids – and I’m very happy that the brat has them to play with most times.

Quarterly HST Remittance

It’s that time of the year again where we have to remit our quarterly HST to the government and the last quarter the HST that we’ve collected is closed to $6500.  How do we know?  with a  reporting engine  that we use at the store for calculating sales and the intakes of the store, it shows us exactly where and what products are selling good and where our remittance should be.  When you own your own business, you have to find reliable software to help with the running of the business.  Fiances are kept closely watched because of this software and we get to know exactly how our sales and our receivables are at.  We don’t like giving more or less to the government, therefore investing in a good reporting software was the best thing we could have done for the store.  Sure there are more improvement to be made in the store and for the store but we feel that this is one of the most important because when we do need to finance our other business venture, this software will help us with the bank as well.

Balanced Diet

We do try to teach her to eat a balanced diet – even when she is at school – we stick a few strawberries on stick to make it interesting enough for her to wanna eat fruits.  And sometimes she does it herself like today.  I don’t say that she doesn’t eat junk but we do try to give her a little of everything and wished she wouldn’t be so fussy with her food but at 9 years old she is still so fussy.

But at least she does eat her fruits everyday and sometimes a few times a day if we can help it.

She Confuses Me

Yes! this is exactly the state I am in with Chloe’s teacher – she does confused me.  Why?  well, the other day, I had sent a message with the TA – to ask her to speak with Chloe about another student who might be accidentally hitting Chloe during line up if he was not careful.  Sure it wasn’t a big deal, some tolerance is required to be learned by Chloe at some point in her everyday life.  But it was because I had checked with Chloe if her home room teacher had been checking if she was doing alright in class, that I found out that she haven’t done so for some time now, that I had gently reminded her home room teacher to speak with Chloe.

So anyhow, I got a call from her the same day when Chloe got home, and she told me that she had indeed spoken to Chloe which I was grateful for but she wanted to remind me to back off – so that Chloe can speak up for herself (which was quite alright)  but it was the next question that she asked me that confused me.  She asked if I was ok sending chloe to school on her own *  roll eyes*  At the back of my mind – i went huh???!!!???  where was that coming from and where was she going ???  confused right?  if i wasn’t ok with chloe going to school can I go sit in class with her?  if i wasn’t ok – what can I do? or what does she wants to do?

Yes !  what a confusing question right?  anyhow, I’ve decided to let PB take the lead from now on but when the important issues with Chloe – who is my daughter – I’m still gonna speak right up – no teachers or principal is gonna stop me from keeping my kid safe.

New Mattress

New mattress is due for the princess because the last one we had bought wasn’t an expensive one – in fact, we had just bought one that wasn’t that expensive and that she would be comfy with.  But I think it’s time to buy her a new and better mattress, after all, she does spend a lot of time on her bed and she is getting older – a good mattress is due.    I checked out some mattresses at bedroom furniture nyc  because they are organic.  Why organic you asked?  or you must think I am trying to be upper class – hahah! but none of those things, just that I don’t want Chloe to be sleeping on something that can trigger her asthma. If you don’t know by now, the fill of a mattress can be filled with airborne allergens and chemical toxins as well, so why risked it especially if you don’t have to.   I rather pay more for a organic mattress than make my kid suffer.  Sure it’s a little bit more than you would pay for your regular mattress but we really want her to be able to use the mattress till she is in her teen years – so this is a good investment.

Another New Year

Yes, it’s already 2013 and it’s another new year for me here in Canada.  Chloe just turned 9 yrs old without her Grammie for the first time to celebrate with her.  It’s quite sad – and I’m filled with memories about Grammie when she was around, I didn’t expect to be so affected by Grammie’s death, I think it’s because sh was gone so suddenly and quickly.

So I’m looking at what I should do different this year.  Last year had been a busy year since summer because I was helping out a friend who was in trouble with her ex and thinking she would only be here for summer, I tried to spend as much time with her as possible, only to find out that there were more trouble than expected.  I tried my best to help her out but you all know how busy I am, and time is quite limited.  But I was there when she needed me even till today, but I feel terrible for Chloe and PB because I haven’t been spending as much time as I should with them.

I also haven’t been paying much attention to the store and it’s not like me to do that, I’m here but more there for my girlfriend, so this year, I’m going to try to let my girlfriend have some space on her own.  This year, I planned to spend more time with Chloe as she is getting older and I want to help her out with her school work more.   For the 2nd term of 3rd grade is going to be harder than the last term.

There is so much I want to do but so little time, therefore, I need to manage my time properly.  I had taken up mahjong to relax but I may have to give that up soon for it’s too distracting.  hahahha!!  As for my health, I better get my bum off the chair and start exercising and sleeping early too.

No More Toys, Please !

We had told Chloe that we had written to Santa not to bring any toys for Chloe, and if he did, I was going to burn his bum when he comes down the chimney – hhahaha! of course, Chloe wasn’t quite please – but the girl has got too many toys, and we don’t have any more space for her to store her toys.  So this Christmas, Santa brought lots of books, a few toys and clothes for Chloe.  Good Santa!

Birthday Gift From Grampie

$45 and she wants this doll – called Rubi – lucky for her Grampie and her Kai Mah wants to buy for her – but in the end, she didn’t want to use her Kai Mah “ang pow” money – so Grampie paid for it.   This year, Grampie had to pay all the money for her gifts because Grammie isn’t around anymore.  To me it’s not the money for buying things for Chloe, it’s more trying to let her know that things didn’t change much even though Grammie isn’t here anymore.  A month from today, it will be Grammie’s birthday – *sigh*  – this will be the first we are not celebrating with Grammie – sad.  But Chloe had a great birthday, Uncle Lloyd and Grampie came – the rest of Grammie sisters didn’t come.

She Turns 9 Soon

We just had a party for Chloe a few days ago, this year she chose to have it at the bowling alley.  As usual, we know that it’s gonna cost a wee bit because for every kid you pay like $6 and another $20 for using a small room for food..  This year i was very fortunate that I had my sister from another mother to help me with the party.  Look at how beautiful she drew out and planned the party – a lot of work had gone into it.

The turn out was good only 2 kids didn’t show up – and that’s ok – Chloe didn’t really say much about it except that this was her first birthday without her grammie.  Grampie came and he was late and Aunt Renette and Uncle Real didn’t come – but Uncle Lloyd came.  We also invited the neighbor’s kid even though we don’t talk to their parents at all because chloe likes the little girl -so it is her party and it’s all about Chloe right?  It was kinda awkward but we survived but I don’t think we are on the mend with her parents anytime soon.

Anyhow, the brat is gonna be 9 soon and yes, time did fly and yes we did missed her grammie and wished she didn’t die so soon.  I still have to learn to spend more time with the kid and the same for PB.

Planning For A New Business

PB and I had our brains picked about a month ago and came up with a new business idea for downtown.  We figured if any kind of store would do well – in downtown – it would have to be a dollar store.  After much brainstorming and looking at our finances, we figured nothing venture nothing gain – so yes, we will be opening a dollar store in downtown.  But first to look for some  Gondola Shelves because we need to get something that are cheap and sturdy as well as reliable and allows us to stack as many things as possible in small spaces.  We need shelf displayer, hooks, racks and many other things to set up shop, so wish us good luck for next year – we are hoping to get the dollar store up and running by early next year.

This is all very exciting for us because it’s a totally new business to us but I know we can make it work and it would only means that I will have more responsibilities but this time I have help from family and closed friends. I’m pretty happy about it – now if we can get funding instead of having to use our own money – that would be perfect.
