Summer Vacation

This is our summer vacation spot this year as we found someone to help out in the store. And the person who is helping us out at the store is a friend from Halifax.  He teaches in Halifax and like the students will be having a summer vacation and since he has nothing to do during the summer, he said he will come help us out.

So I called my extended family and told them that we will be using their resort for the summer and they told us to come anytime.  We are so excited because the resort is absolutely free for us to use and they will stock up food and everything we need for our stay there.  Don’t you just love family!  About time, I get to use my new swimming costume ! woohoo!

Vlogging

Vlogging – is a video log.

Yes, I’ve been approached by a company/online magazine from USA to be one of their vloggers for a cosmetic/health online presence.  The PR company that I’ve worked with for the longest time worked out all the details for me and they flew me out to New York for a weekend to show me around the company and to sign the contract.

I’ve to say that I’m very happy with the offer and what I have to do and it’s a great opportunity for me to branch out this way.  Everything I use or review are sponsored and I get paid for it, now that’s awesome right?  I’m so blessed that PB supports all that I do online and I’ve to say that everything I’ve been doing is paying off because my online presence is phenomena.  I’ve not only make friends networking offline but online as well and many of you out there know what I’m talking about.

I’ve no regret blogging for the last 10 yrs or more, not only has it turn out to be lucrative, it has made me a much more informed person.  But because of various reasons related to the place I lived in,  I’ve started to blog on another platform in a more elaborate way 8 yrs ago, so as to not have a conflict of interest with some folks here.  On the other platform, I am able to post pictures and say what I want without worrying about who might read it as Canada has been blocked in that platform.  So unless, you are not from Canada, you will not see my blogs anywhere in the blogosphere.  So why do not not cancel these other blogs?  because they have advertisers on it and I’ve already committed to the advertisers and am not going to breach my contract with them.  So yes, I’m vlogging as well, and I’m doing it because it was an opportunity that I cannot refused, the remuneration is just too good to refuse.  So if you see me carrying my video camera around and talking with myself, do not think I’m going crazy – hahahah!

New Hair Color

So I finally found time to go get my hair colored.  When you are 49, all that silvery white hair starts popping out everywhere, so after several attempts to get it done at the hair salon, I found time to really do it.

Loved my new hair color, a little bit reddish right now but I’m sure it would tone down after a few rinse.  I figured at nearing 50, it’s ok to be bold and try different things.  My hairstylist did a great job, she was quick too and everything just went so smoothly and i was in and out of there in an hour plus hair cut.  Only cost me $67 + tax.

Welcoming Spring

For years, I’ve wanted to get a bicycle to go riding and to exercise.  I’ve always loved biking when I was home some 14 yrs ago, we would go to East Coast parkway and rent a bike and ride on the beach front.  For those from home, you will know what I mean, the bike was for rental at $5 and you can ride as long as you want.  I loved it because I didn’t want to carry my bike in  my car and bring it all the way to the beach.

But over here in this town, it’s too small to have a bike rental service in the summer, in Miami – they also have bike rentals but of course, in Miami there is the beach too!  Anyhow, I’m going off topic again, I finally bought a bike, I shall take pictures of it soon for you and I’m absolutely stoke !  I can’t wait to go out for a ride with Chloe and PB, well, it’s more to keep Chloe company.

Easter Gifts

As I’m sure you all know by now, that I’ve so  many great friends from around the world and some in this town.  So during Easter, we try to get some things for the kids.  This year, I was able to return the kindness of a girlfriend from Malaysia – she had been so good to me throughout the years that I’ve been in Canada and I was only too happy to look for some kindle eggs for her kids that she can’t find in Malaysia and mail it to them.

This year, I wanted to go out and buy chocolates for everyone but unfortunately, Chloe had been ill with a stomach pain and tooth ache, so I was stuck at home with her.  But I did managed to get the above for my g/f in Malaysia.

Gifts From Taiwan

More gifts !!!!  I’m so blessed and so lucky to have great friends from all over the world.  This came in this morning and I was definitely surprised.  My g/f from Taiwan, Taipeh sent these over to me just because.  She said she haven’t sent stuff to me for a long time now, so she decided to grab a few things and send them to me.  It’s crazyyyy!!  look at how huge the box is!

Look at all the food!!!  postage alone is about $300 cdn dollars and the amount of food were lots !!  I am grateful ! but I already have loads of food from Regina, who had just sent me a box as huge as this from Singapore.

Gifts From Singapore

Yes!  another huge box of goodies from my g/f Regina in Singapore.  Regina is one of my oldest friend from work and she is married to a wonderful man and has gone very far in her career.  Although I haven’t seen Regina for a long time, she continues to be her kind self as always.  I’m so blessed to have her in my life.  As usual postage for the box is so expensive – closed o $250 cdn dollars.

There were food, toys for chloe and a lot of other goodies.  Chloe was so excited to get her Merlion stuffie and her tote and coloring stuff.   If you remember, sometime last year, Regina bought Chloe her instax camera and gave her like 10 boxes of films.  I’m so grateful but wished she didn’t spend so much money on us.

Magical Childhood

Just the other day, Chloe swallowed her teeny weeny bit of leftover tooth from her broken cap in school and she had wrote to the tooth fairy that it was ok if the tooth fairy didn’t give her any money coz’  it was a tiny one and she had swallowed it in school.  So she had no tooth to exchange for money with the tooth fairy.  The first night we had forgotten all about the note and didn’t do nothing about it and the second night came and we forgotten about that too.  Came the third night I reprimanded PB for Chloe’s  lazy tooth fairy and of course, that night the tooth fairy came and took her note and left her a dollar.

When Chloe found the $1, the next day, she patted us on the back and said it was alright to let her know that it was us who left her the $1 and not the tooth fairy.  It was such a funny, funny expression when she patted us on the back, like a matter -of – factly manner but we insisted that it wasn’t us.  So she went on her day happily that day and told everyone that the tooth fairy finally came and gave her $1. We didn’t have the heart to tell her otherwise and not let her continue to have a magical childhood.  Afterall, they are only this young once, even though she is already 10.

Now having said all the above, I’m not about to spend $1000 on gifts each year on Chloe’s Christmas or birthday, so parents out there don’t feel bad if you didn’t give your child a theme party for his/her birthday to make their childhood magical.  A magical childhood need not be all about money and glamor, PB and I feel that a balance of magic and common sense is just as important.

Jewelry Shopping For 20th Anniversary

We were in the city a few weeks ago, during the March break, PB and I took the opportunity to look for a good Lazare diamond for our anniversary.  20 yrs together is no easy feat like he said, so we look at rings  and I still wanted a Lazare or nothing.  Yes, I’m quite fussy when it comes to diamonds and gold jewelry.  For diamonds I only want the Lazare diamonds and gold I only wear the 916 gold.

And yes, we did find one that I fell in love with immediately and PB bought it for me without even asking for the price.  It was worth the money we paid for it because it shows how much he really wants to celebrate our life together.  And this ring will be passed down to Chloe of course and to her daughter and so forth.  I look forward to many more years together with this man.

Absolutely Touched !

A long time customer and her family came to visit us at the store with her daughter’s daughter.  Yes !  of course, I’m touched!  they said they came to visit because they thought I might like to meet the baby.  Now tell me you are not touched!  I loved children, especially children of children that have grown up with me at the store.

They were but kids when I first met them and now they are adults and have their own children, now isn’t that sweet and beautiful.  Nothing is more beautiful than to see these kids grow up to be awesome adults and having their own awesome family.  Of course, their parents are pretty awesome people too but they have moved away and are only back to visit their parents who are still in this town.

And I’m but an owner by association to the spouse’s business whom they have met when they come to rent a movie or buy a game but they remembered me as the funny crazy Chinese woman who would dish out advice whether they wanted it or not.  But you see, these good kids are the ones who would laughed and nod at my every idiosyncrasies, all because they were taught by good parents to acknowledge even though they may not agree with what people say because our intentions are good.
