So Relaxing

I never had a chance to do cross stitch when I was a kid not because we were that poor but because my mom concentrated a lot on the boys and nurturing them instead of us the girls.  When I got older, I was too busy trying to make a life for myself, so cross stitch never came into my mind.  I took up cross stitch because of Chloe but ended up liking it so much because it’s so relaxing.

The only problem ?  my eyesight – because i need bi-focal for seeing things that are near – and I do have bi-focal but just don’t really know how to make use of it – so I take off my glasses and cross stitch without them.  I noticed that it’s not really that good for the eye – I seems to be straining it a lot lately – so I’m taking it easy on the cross stitch and do a little at a time.  Cross stitch helps me to stay in the same room and watch PB play his games or watch a movie he likes and I don’t.   Of course, it also helps me to stay in the tv room with chloe and watch her Wizards of the Waverly place for the 10th time – hahahha!  So yes, it’s quite pleasing to cross stitch.

For The Anime Fans

I guess we are not the only ones who are anime fans because a friend’s son and some of our store’s customers are asking for anime as well.  I know of someone who uses the vlc download  to watch their anime shows everyday and cannot do without it.   Currently, we are watching the Legend of Korra dubbed in English of course and loving it. I haven’t tried the VLC media player myself but I hear it’s more stable and the quality of the picture is supposed to be better, plus it supports Blu Ray version as well  – so I’m going to recommend this to my girlfriend’s son who is a diehard fan for anime.  Calling all anime fans out there – check it out and let me know eh.

Drawing Class For Chloe

Maybe I’m biased but I think Chloe sure draw a good picture – because I could never draw like that.  Talking about drawing my sister and my dad used to be very good at drawing but I could never draw even a stick person properly when I was a kid.   I remembered when I was young – a classmate drew a boat and I had asked if I could have it and brought it home to show my mom – and my mom told my dad that I drew it and my dad immediately knew it wasn’t me – hahaha!!  see how untalented I was even my dad who was never home knew that I couldn’t have drawn the boat.

Anyhow, I really want to send Chloe for drawing classes but being in such a small town there are no classes available here except for a ceramic store that does painting on the ceramic.  The problem with living in a small town is you really cannot develop your kid’s potential – so here I go again – looking for an art teacher who is available during the weekend to teach Chloe.  I think this craziness to enrich Chloe’s potential has to do with the fact that my own parents didn’t do nothing for us when we were young but I don’t blame them because my mom couldn’t afford it and my good for nothing dad was too busy chasing skirts.  Oh well, lucky for Chloe both her parents are very much in love and loved her too much.

Basement Renovations Underway

Yes! we are finally renovating the basement – putting in a tv room in the basement with a wood stove and a laundry room, computer room and a play room for Chloe.  The basement renovation will cost us quite a bit but I think it’s all worth it ! why keep the money in the bank and do nothing when you can spend it on something useful right?  That was what I said to PB and since we are not doing much investing this year – I figured doing the basement and the backyard is the way to go.

I’m pretty excited – in another 2 weeks – you can see the finish work and so far *touch wood* i’m pretty happy with the progress.  Wish us luck now – and a whole living room upstairs to entertain my friends from now on – woohoo!

A Lovely 47 Birthday

I had a lovely birthday with family and friends – and being easter – it was even more meaningful.  Friends visited our home today – and presented me with gifts and look at all the cakes for my birthday.  4 birthday cakes – what a lucky birthday girl I am.

Cousin George came for supper at Aunt Helena’s and it was really fun with them around – at least they played with Chloe and made her laugh.

Look at chloe enjoying her cake with family friend Jeff – busy taking pictures.

This is John – cousin George’s partner – a lovely, lovely man.

And of course PB – trying to avoid a smile but I got a smile outta him.  I had a wonderful birthday – too bad grammie isn’t around – that was the only sad part and Grampie wasn’t feeling too good – I was worried for him when I left tonite.

Spring Cleaning Begins

Yes! and the spring cleaning begins – to make room for renovation work in the basement.  We are hoping to sell some of the stuff that we don’t use anymore – like this queen size bed frame. But it turned out that it is quite moldy – so this went to the garbage instead.

This chest of drawers went to Grampie.

The washer is sold but the dryer is still around hoping it will sell soon.

And the changing table is still around.  Bummer!  so i’m going to put it up on the yard sale again and see if anyone would take it off our hands.  Both items are in good condition.

Cross Stitch With Chloe

I started Chloe on cross stitch because we had wanted to keep her busy and to do something that most girls don’t do anymore at this time and age.  Most children only wants to play computer games and electronic games – so we figured that it would be good to teach Chloe how to do cross stitch.   And guess what she loved it so much – she was willing to try just about anything.

Tonite, she helped me with mine because she told me she didn’t mind doing mine since I had a hard time seeing those tiny holes.  And she mumbled to herself – like an old lady – that “we don’t see young girls doing this anymore” muahahaha!!! oh my!  this kid of mine – makes me laugh so hard sometimes – she is just too adorable.

Moments Of Sadness After Lost Of Grammie

A month and a half ago Chloe lost her grammie to cancer – she passed away so quickly, Chloe didn’t really get to say goodbye properly.  Because of that she may seems happy to everyone but there are moments of sadness and doubt that would overcome her during the day.  So I monitor closely to make sure that she is emotionally taken care of – and to make sure I am there for her when she is sad or needs a question to be answered.

Although PB said it is normal for her to be grieving and I know it is – I find that he is more relax than i am with Chloe emotionally, maybe it is a man thing – but I have to double up and do PB’s part as well.  Just a few weeks ago, she asked if grampie is going to get married again?  Today she asked if I was going to die and leave her – she said she was worried.  I promised her that I loved her too much to die and then caught myself from saying more – because I’m sure her grammie didn’t want to leave her too – so as parents we have to watch what we say – and how we explain things to a child – who is only 8 yrs old and dealing with death for the first time.  Please pray for Chloe – pray that she can find comfort and that she will only think of the good times she had with grammie.

Town Meetings

I’ve always said that it would be nice to have video conferencing services  for our town meetings because the town meetings are held at times when we have to open our store or people who have to be at work.   But if we have video conferencing services, anyone can log in and join the town meetings wherever they are even if those who are not in town and on vacation and don’t want to miss out on important issues of the town.  I’ve highlighted this issue to the town councilors and the election for town councilors will be coming up soon – nor this is the time to re-talk about this issue with the council.  Live telecast is not really what we want to see – the people of this town wants to be able to interact directly and live conferencing should be the way to go – if they wanted the people to be involved.  The many times that I’ve attended town meetings – I never see anyone except the councilors and the mayor and the Chief Administrator – so what s the point if the town cannot participate actively in these town meetings that concerns the town.  Town meetings should be interactive and to do it – the most feasible way is a video conferencing service.

Kids Can Do Housework Too

Yes, kids can do housework too and help around the store.  Today, Chloe wanted to help clean the toilet and we let her – her daddy stayed and watch her cleaned it and even though she didn’t do a good job – it’s alright – because it’s a start.  Usually on Sundays, we make her clean up her books and dust around the house while we clean up the house like vacuuming and stuff.  And at the store, we make her dust or do some spraying of fabreeze or help the customers with opening the locked cabinets.

One thing for sure is when you ask your kids to help out with the housework, never tell them that it is not cleaned enough and you want to do it all over again.  This would then make your kid not want to help you in the future.  My mom did that to us, she was never happy with what we did and even called us a liar and accused us for not doing our chores, now that is a huge no no !

For Chloe, doing housework and helping out around the home and store is a joy, she feels that she is responsible – she feels like she is a big girl for helping out, she feels useful – that is how you want your kids to feel.
