PB is always looking out for ways to make more money. While I’m not into taking risk – he wants to be the one who discover the next “Microsoft” shares. Who doesn’t want to own some of Microsoft shares right? And since we don’t know much about investing – there is this Forex mentoring program that PB is looking into – to learn more about investment. According to PB there are lessons, tutorials, live training in the charts included in this mentoring program and you get a real mentor too. You get to learn about trading concepts or strategies in this program – so if you are like PB new to trading in Forex – maybe you should look into this mentoring program too? we will update on it later – once we find out more – after taking the program.
Working In This Town
I have lived in this town for 10 yrs – coming 11 yrs this December and when I hear people telling me they have to move away for a job because they can’t find any suitable ones here – I sometimes wonder. You see I also know of many who has airport jobs and jobs at the hospital and they have had been there for ages now and very happy with where they are. So why is it that some cannot find a job or cannot keep a job while others are very happy with theirs? Is it the benefit from a company? or is it just the person? Is it the attitude? or is it the people who owns the business?
In the last 10 yrs – we’ve hired on many people and only a few that came along were good employees. You think you’ve seen all sorts of people – in our 11 yrs in business but not really true – we’ve yet to learn about employers and employees situation here. But I think the attitude of a person is very important don’t you? If i really wanted to keep a job when I was back home – i would put in the extra effort and extra time. Here – where I lived – people just don’t want to do anything extra – they just want to collect their pay check. In my humble opinion – if you want your boss to appreciate you – you have to appreciate your boss and go the extra mile – what do you think?
Moms Going Back To Work
Some had asked me when I am going back to work – now that Chloe is almost 7 yrs old this December and I’ve given some serious thoughts about it. You see all my life I’ve held management jobs, whether I was a management trainee or a business center officer – they are all considered management – whereby i only report to the big boss. My last job a office manager to a Spanish firm was also a management job where i got to travel a lot with my bosses and engineers or the regional director. So you see – when people ask me if i am going back to get a “real” job – i often wonder what there is here for me – to work as.
Don’t get me wrong – I would do any kind of work – when the need arises – but if what I am doing now – makes the same amount of money – why would i need to go out and get a “real” job right? Now if I were home or in different part of the world – maybe things will be different? or if we move to the city? maybe it would be different? I enjoy my time with Chloe and being there for her – I enjoy being able to do what I want – when I want – but not without restriction – since being owner by association to the spouse’s business doesn’t really quite seems to be what people think. And yes – if an opportunity arises – and an offer is placed in front of me – or my ex-bosses called to ask me to go work for them – I would even travel overseas to work – if the pay is right and the remuneration package meets my entire family needs. But for those moms going back to work – I feel the same way you do – all the anxiety of leaving your kids on their own – and having to fit in again – with the younger generation and all the new technology – you have to get use to. But yes – as moms – we all know we can do anything – if we put our mind to it and if you are anything like me and keep yourself up to date – then you are all set. And to moms going back to work – I salute you all – because you are the greatest!
Tech Savvy Kids
Kids are so smart these days – I wonder where they get their smartness from. A friend of Chloe’s came by the store the other day after reading some desktop computer reviews, for they were thinking of getting a computer for their kids too. So knowing that Chloe has one at home too – they had come by to ask our opinion/s about what to get for theirs.
PC or desktops are quite the common thing at anyone’s home – Chloe had her own computer because we didn’t want to share ours with her. And I’m sure a lot of parents out there too – bring their work home and is understandable. Now what you put inside the computer or how much you want to spend on it – depends on how old your kid is. These day – you can get a computer for less than $400 – but of course, if you have an older kid – who is into gaming or forsee that – then you should plan ahead and get one that is upgradable. The rams and hard-drive also depends on what the kid/s wants to do with their computer – do they watch movies or download music – or do they need a burner for school work. The younger the kid – the less you should spend – and if you were anything like us – we would get a used one or a re-furbished one. Chloe’s computer came with parts that were used – only the computer’s case was new. So there – you have it from a el cheapo mom.
Upgrading Home & Store
It had been a really busy summer for us – in fact – so busy I had to cancel my pedicure a few times now in the last 2 months. The store is doing some revamping with new fixtures and our home ? we are getting our patio all fixed up with mosquito nets – so that we can enjoy sitting outside without the buzzing of mosquitoes and bugs. The zapper that we had bought a few years ago – didn’t seems to help – so I told PB that we really needed to get the mosquito nets up. Afterall, what is good with having a patio and a golf course for scenery when one don’t get to enjoy it. So off we went looking for some Baldwin hardware for door knobs and other accessories. As for the store – we got new fixtures for the movies and games and cabinets as well. The store is beginning to look “proper” now and most of the handmade shelving by PB were taken down. I think he is a little nostalgic about them – hahahha!! for they had followed him for 11 yrs now. So yes! if i haven’t answered your emails or gone on Facebook – it’s because we are busy running around looking and shopping for stuff to fix up our house and store.
Life In This Small Town
Tis’ very sad to see restaurants/bistros/movie places – closing its door one at a time during the last few months – i wonder what is next for this town. 6.5 yrs ago – when i was pregnant with Chloe – i could eat nothing but quiche from this bistro – just a few doors away from our store. This Bistro kept me and Chloe alive for at least 6 months – i just couldn’t stomach anything. There are so many good people like the owner of this bistro trying very hard to make a living – but end up losing so much – just for trying. Owner of this place is very talented – i’ve eaten there many time during my 11 yrs in this town – so it came as a shock to us that they just up and left with no notice whatsoever.
There is currently a new MP – elected – a very young one – promising from what i see – so i’m hoping that with this new MP – we will see some small changes. Lately, the town councils have been more and more disappointing – i just read in the local papers – how they are $100K unprepared – so they claimed a mis-interpretation! WOW!! already there had been a lot of mis-interpretation in this town for the last few years – plus i can’t see how the town is not aware of what is going on with SWDAS – all these years – when they are even involved in the tri-county school thing. I am deeply troubled by what a lot of folks of this town suspect – but time will tell eh – time will tell. I’m just glad that our business haven’t been affected *touch wood* and thank God ! we are keeping our fingers and toes crossed.
Trip To The City
As many of you know we don’t get to go up the city often – that’s because we own our own business and don’t have the help that we want to entrust the business to – to go away for a week or two. So when we do get a chance – everything has to be properly planned and we have to make the fullest outta the trip as much as possible.
This trip to the city was a fruitful one – we only left on Sunday – but had planned to leave on Saturday – but the spouse – well – he didn’t say it in so much words but i don’t think he liked the store to be closed for too long – hahah! so we only left on Sunday – and arrived on Sunday afternoon. Even though we did a lot – i wished we had more time because the hotel we were at – was right smack in the middle of town – and i would have done more shopping. But it was a good trip – we found new places we would liked to go back to eat and new asian grocery store! yay!! And this trip – chloe was really awesome – and on the way home – she slept all the way home. She even got to eat a few decent meals in the city – so i’m pleased. More on my trip – on another posts – stay tune for them.
Small Town
So we had quite a week here, which actually started in December, where our ferry link from USA – Maine to our town was canceled abruptly. Yesterday, even after a rally in the city with representatives from all over Nova Scotia to plead with the Premier and other officers in charge came to a dead end. The Premier office wouldn’t budged. We are not directly affected but the nonsense that came with this ferry thing and the letter by our own town councilor trying to kiss butts with the Premier sure sent me fuming. What good is a town councilor when he goes and do his own thing to try and be part of the “old boys”? It really made me sick to my stomach – I know politics is dirty – but even for such a small town and someone whom I had elected..?? time to get some moving quotes I said to the spouse because what hope is there – no airlines, no ferries – what next? they gonna dig out the highway?
Studying Online
In the previous post, I talked about working online and now i can’t wait to tell you .. i can’t wait to get back to the work force. Easier said than done right? well, chloe is growing up .. and i can forsee myself wanting a “proper” job .. and making money from someone else other than our own store. So i better buckle up .. and go upgrade myself – the spouse told me just the other night but with an online university he suggested because he was pretty sure I wasn’t going to leave the kid on her own yet.
Many people have reservations about an online mba but after speaking with some of my online friends.. and knowing that they had successful gone thru’ the course because of the flexibility and online support from the university, they too encouraged that i do the same as well. Since tuition is affordable and it is recognized by future employers, i am truly hyped to look into it seriously. Like my grandfather used to say, you can never arm yourself with too many degrees but this time, I would like to pursue something that is much needed in this area, medical administration.
Working Online & Get Rich!
Many of you already know that I do some work online.. and many had written to ask me if it was a lucrative job. They also wanna know.. all about the Get rich advertisement.. that google pays $176/hr… hahhaha!! and asked if it was true. I’m sure you too have seen ads about such and many of you are tempted. But let me warn you .. that many work at home companies will scam you .. if you are not careful.
Just so you know.. the people we work for .. have never asked us to pay for membership.. nor put money upfront. So if you are approached by someone to work online.. but you have to pay for a course fee.. or materials.. to make money online.. then it is 100% it is a scam. Be careful .. because unless you are John Chow, you are not gonna be rich – donch get me wrong.. i make decent pocket money.. but not many people can do what i do..and have the dedication and time. So be careful .. ! i know you wanna make a few bucks.. but there is no get rich scheme.. in working online.
