And My Journey Thru' Breast Cancer
Yup.. the time has come.. !! Tim Hortons Roll up the Rim contest is back. And it’s about time i won something. I didn’t the whole of last year..! so you see how bad my luck was last year right. Nah..! i donch expect to win big.. but one year i was winning coffees and donuts.. all week long.. but last year.. not one..! bummer..!
To some of you out there.. having onion rings and chicken nuggets from Burger King is certainly no big deal. Some even refuses to eat them.. because they are deemed unhealthy. It is.. but for someone who haven’t had BK burgers or anything in BK .. for a few years now.. you can imagine.. how happy i was.. when we could make it. The nearest BK is about 3hrs away .. from the town I am in .. New Minas was the place we went to. Count your blessings.
I donch like traveling to the city if i can help it.. all because the brat doesn’t get to eat proper. She refuses to eat anything.. except french fries. So the 2 days we were up in the city, all she had mostly was french fries.. and juice. Well.. she did have a small bowl of noodles at Dharma Sushi.. and she told the chef.. “good noodles .. Chef…!!” in which it sent everyone laughing at the sushi bar.
I haven’t had Burger King for so long, I had almost forgotten how it tastes now. The very first meal we had .. for our trip up to the city on Sunday afternoon was at Burger King… at New Minas. I had a whopper meal .. but it was so- so .. nothing spectacular.. just plain old burger.. but i did like the onion rings, unfortunately it was very expensive for onion rings.. like 2 bucks for a packet of small ones.
While eating wanton noodles.. or meepok for breakfast is a norm.. when i was in Asia.. i would never eat them here for breakfast. Wanton noodles are for lunch or supper.. but never breakfast for me here. Breakfast consists of toasted bread.. sausages.. bacon.. sometimes eggs, sometimes.. hashbrown.. but nope.. will never eat wanton noodles. So i guess.. i do act like a roman when I am in rome eh.
Eating with PB around is a no no..! well… that is if i wanna enjoy my food. Why leh..?? you asked. Well.. if i eat.. when PB is around.. quite the “kek sim” .. because he would give you that exasperated look.. because he doesn’t like ppl who eats loudly or chew with their mouth open.. or talk.. when you eat. And so .. whenever i slurp my noodles.. he would be running outta the room like a bullet train. If he didn’t have any shoes.. he would wear a clog .. kinda manner.. well.. you get the drift right.
So if i eat. .and he is in the room.. either i would wait for him to leave.. or i eat in the tv room.. if he doesn’t wanna eat. So just the other day.. i was waiting for him to leave the room before starting on my noodles.. and he said… “oh .. you can eat” .. and i said.. “nope.. ! i can’t..! ” and before he left the room.. i told him. “you trained me such”. Afterall, how to enjoy one’s food.. when the other half looked like you just murdered his dog or something to that effect… right..??
You see food to PB is just food.. and nothing more. But food to me.. is an kinda enjoyment… so very hard to entice him.. with food.. or introduce new ones to him. But i’m sure you all know… if you had been reading my blog for years now. Yup..! when i come home.. i’ll make sure i do my food hunts without the man… but with all my makan-kakis..! so anyone up to it..??
Nothing makes me happier than eating greens. I think i must have been reincarnated from a cow in my previous life. This was what we had at my MIL’s house during her birthday. We had roasted chicken, some baked ham, fruit salad with raspberry vinegrate, mashed potatoes.. and i thought it was an awesome meal. The brat didn’t have much meat as per usual.. but she did have the mashed potatoes.. made by grammie.
It’s PB’s tradition to get a birthday cake for Grammie every year irregardless whether he is busy at work or not. This year was a no brainer too… but we did get a gift or two from Chloe to her Grammie. One was a sobey’s giftcard for grammie to get candies that she liked… and the second one was a photo calender to put a new photo of chloe on a monthly basis. I thought that would be nice.. because Grammie can show off pictures of chloe.. when she has visitors.
These were some of the finger food that we had served during Chloe’s birthday. Alot was left.. because not many showed up for the party.. because of the bad weather. We had a blizzard that day..! so it’s understandable.. why ppl didn’t show up. Which prompted us to do chloe’s birthday way earlier next year. By the way, everyone loved the finger food.. unfortunately, i didn’t enjoyed it that much.. because of my ulcer on my tongue. What a bummer eh..?? but no worries.. i got some more left in my freezer.
Yup..! yer heard right..!! i lucked in this year.. ! barely a month ago.. i was up in the city.. and bought almost $200 in Chinese food.. because my MIL had given me extra. . an advance Christmas gift.
Yesterday saw our very good and steadfast friend/customer .. Gerald lugging 4 bags of Asian groceries for me… and insist on giving me back change of a few dollars.. when he had saved us so much money and time. So yes.. i have more food now.. and lots of lotus roots.. in turn i shared it with Mr Choo from the Chinese restaurant.. so that he can make some chinese soup for his wife and daughter. Yes.. I strongly believe in giving when one is so blessed.
