I Miss My Esthetician!

I just went for a facial – the other day – and I tell you – I sure missed my Esthetician from back home in Singapore. Her name is Linda – and she does the best best adult acne treatment and she has the best technique for massage your face and your back. For the last 10 yrs, I have tried several spas and none compared with her. Don’t get me wrong – they are good but I still prefer Linda’s. I think it is because she really takes care of my needs – like taken care of the white heads around my eyes – and also doing my eyebrow shaping without any extra charge. Plus a quick 5 mins massage after – you are done your facial – pure bliss. Of course, she has special portion for all types of skins – if you have dark circles or if you are having a bad acne this morning. Yes! i dream of home – I dream of someone to take care of my acne problems without being critical – I dream of the familiar spa – the familiar hands. Oh when can I go home for a visit?

Sleeping Very Important To Diabetics!

Yes! sleeping – a lot of it – is very important to someone like myself – being a diabetic and all. I tell PB all the time – because I can’t sleep well – if he doesn’t get to bed and by the time he does – he wakes me up and I tend to have a hard time falling back to sleep. I toss and turn the whole night – and I get really upset because I know I need to sleep bad! Anyhow, PB said he is going to try looking for some natural sleeping aids for me – that way – I don’t feel so stress up about trying to get enough rest. And for those who can’t find me online after midnight these day – that’s because I need to be in bed by then – for I have to be up at 7am for Chloe to go to school. I’m not missing – just want to be healthy and get enough rest.

Take Charge Of My Health

I feel like I’m coming down with a cold – you see Chloe just had a chloe not too long ago – but it’s the constant sick customers – that comes in and hack at us – that I think made me sick. I really have to take charge of my health – take more vitamins, exercise and learn more about cleansing my body and getting toxins out. After all, we eat out so much and just let our body be on auto-pilot and think that everything is alright. Yes! i have to learn to live a healthier lifestyle – coz’ I hate to be sick!!

Battle With My Weight

Many of you who knows me – know that I’m not on Facebook or playing Facebook games like fishville or cafeworld like for almost 2 months. Many of you are also curious to find out what I’ve been up to as well – since I don’t update my status on Facebook that much either. That’s because I’m battling with my weight and health issue and want to spend more time taking care of myself – instead of sitting in front of the computer. As it is I already spend a lot of time in front of the computer – so no – I took charge of my life and said to myself – I’m gonna start eating right and exercising. I also look into taking diet pills to help supplement my effort and I’m happy to report that I’ve lost 3kg in 1.5 months.

Yesterday, when I had gone to see my family doctor to get a prescription for my “crazy” meds – she was quite pleased with the weight lost but insisted that I have to still see the psychologist. I’m not seeing a psychiatrist but a psychologist – according to my new family doctor a psychologist is like a consultant – to evaluate my condition. So no I’m not being treated by a psychiatrist – just an evaluation and it was something I wanted to do too because I was having anxiety attacks. So there you have it – I’m just taking care of myself and Chloe better that’s all and thank you all who have written and asked about my well-being.

Teenagers & Acne

I was a very lucky teenager that didn’t need any acne serum when i was young, unfortunately, my brothers – well – they were different – they needed a lot of help. But some 30 years ago – we didn’t think of seeing a dermatologist or any doctor – we thought that it would go away – when they grew older. Well, now they have scars on their faces – which isn’t good at all – luckily they are guys. So when PB’s cousin – a girl had the same problems – we looked into some good acne serum to find the best one for her. You know it’s not easy being a teenager – and having to deal with acne can be even harder. So I had helped them read up more on what to get – afterall, I have a daughter too – and Chloe will be a teenager too – i’m keeping my fingers crossed – but you never know eh.

French Maid For Halloween

Halloween costumes are all up for sale everywhere in the mall and I’m tempted to dress up too this year. Last year – the girlfriends all dressed up for Halloween – and some were in a cat woman costume – another was in a french maid costumes and had joke that this costume comes in handy for other occasions too – like spicing up their love life and we had a good laugh about it too. So this year – I told the spouse – we should join in the fun with Chloe and get dress up too – afterall, we are never too old to be in costumes right? and it’s HALLOWEEN!!! so what kind of costume will you be in ? let me know eh.

U2

U2 is coming to Toronto !!! yes ! you heard me right! Ahhh..! talking about U2 brings back so many good memories. Yes ! I grew up listening to U2! and yes ! they have been around for a long time – 30 yrs. I was in my teens too when they started the band. Irish guys and so handsome ! we all went ga-ga over all of them. So who do I liked? Bono of course!! and he still looks so good now – at 50. Wished they were coming to Halifax in November instead of Toronto but for those who are in Toronto and want some U2 tickets, make sure get yours really early – coz’ i hear they are sold out on every concert. Dreamy, dreamy I am now – and plotting to get to Toronto if I can in November – afterall, you don’t get to go for U2 concerts every other month eh. Working In This Town

I have lived in this town for 10 yrs – coming 11 yrs this December and when I hear people telling me they have to move away for a job because they can’t find any suitable ones here – I sometimes wonder. You see I also know of many who has airport jobs and jobs at the hospital and they have had been there for ages now and very happy with where they are. So why is it that some cannot find a job or cannot keep a job while others are very happy with theirs? Is it the benefit from a company? or is it just the person? Is it the attitude? or is it the people who owns the business?

In the last 10 yrs – we’ve hired on many people and only a few that came along were good employees. You think you’ve seen all sorts of people – in our 11 yrs in business but not really true – we’ve yet to learn about employers and employees situation here. But I think the attitude of a person is very important don’t you? If i really wanted to keep a job when I was back home – i would put in the extra effort and extra time. Here – where I lived – people just don’t want to do anything extra – they just want to collect their pay check. In my humble opinion – if you want your boss to appreciate you – you have to appreciate your boss and go the extra mile – what do you think?

Moms Going Back To Work

Some had asked me when I am going back to work – now that Chloe is almost 7 yrs old this December and I’ve given some serious thoughts about it. You see all my life I’ve held management jobs, whether I was a management trainee or a business center officer – they are all considered management – whereby i only report to the big boss. My last job a office manager to a Spanish firm was also a management job where i got to travel a lot with my bosses and engineers or the regional director. So you see – when people ask me if i am going back to get a “real” job – i often wonder what there is here for me – to work as.

Don’t get me wrong – I would do any kind of work – when the need arises – but if what I am doing now – makes the same amount of money – why would i need to go out and get a “real” job right? Now if I were home or in different part of the world – maybe things will be different? or if we move to the city? maybe it would be different? I enjoy my time with Chloe and being there for her – I enjoy being able to do what I want – when I want – but not without restriction – since being owner by association to the spouse’s business doesn’t really quite seems to be what people think. And yes – if an opportunity arises – and an offer is placed in front of me – or my ex-bosses called to ask me to go work for them – I would even travel overseas to work – if the pay is right and the remuneration package meets my entire family needs. But for those moms going back to work – I feel the same way you do – all the anxiety of leaving your kids on their own – and having to fit in again – with the younger generation and all the new technology – you have to get use to. But yes – as moms – we all know we can do anything – if we put our mind to it and if you are anything like me and keep yourself up to date – then you are all set. And to moms going back to work – I salute you all – because you are the greatest!

Tech Savvy Kids

Kids are so smart these days – I wonder where they get their smartness from. A friend of Chloe’s came by the store the other day after reading some desktop computer reviews, for they were thinking of getting a computer for their kids too. So knowing that Chloe has one at home too – they had come by to ask our opinion/s about what to get for theirs.

PC or desktops are quite the common thing at anyone’s home – Chloe had her own computer because we didn’t want to share ours with her. And I’m sure a lot of parents out there too – bring their work home and is understandable. Now what you put inside the computer or how much you want to spend on it – depends on how old your kid is. These day – you can get a computer for less than $400 – but of course, if you have an older kid – who is into gaming or forsee that – then you should plan ahead and get one that is upgradable. The rams and hard-drive also depends on what the kid/s wants to do with their computer – do they watch movies or download music – or do they need a burner for school work. The younger the kid – the less you should spend – and if you were anything like us – we would get a used one or a re-furbished one. Chloe’s computer came with parts that were used – only the computer’s case was new. So there – you have it from a el cheapo mom.
