KNNCBB !!

Self-explanatory as below. Ppl should take a lesson or two from Sobeys Customer Service and Management , instead of shrugging on responsibility. A simple, I am sorry and we will definitely look into it would have done nicely or might i suggest .. this could be the reason why.. instead of We hope this has informed you how to burn a candle safely.
I wonder if they do stop and think for their client – Pharmasave or not..?? because this inadvently would cause me to have bad feelings about buying anything from Pharmasave in the future. And to tell you the truth.. i buy lots of candles.. and i have receipts to prove it.

Subject: Dangerous Voltive

Dear Mr Macleod,
Attached please find pictures taken of a votive that i had purchase from pharmasave a few weeks ago.
I had used it a couple of days ago, and last nite.. this was what happened.
I suspect that the cup holding the voltive is too thin .. therefore it burnt my window ledge when it was almost done.
I am writing.. so that you are aware of this.. that way.. some other customer/s will not have the same problem as I.
Had my husband not been at home last nite.. i would have panic.. and try to use water on the cup.. and that would have been more disastrous..! with broken glass flying around.. and prolly cut me and my toddler.
I am bringing this to your attention .. in hope that no one will get hurt or any houses burnt down in the near future.
Thank you very much.

Best regards,
BB

Dear BB:

I am sorry that the candle has damaged your window sill but I see a few problems with the burning of the candle. The vessel that the votive was burning in was not made for votives. It is a glass cappuccino (Coffee)mug which can withstand high heat. If you were burning a votive inside this container it of course would be unsafe as this is not for a votive. A votive must be burnt in a votive container specially made for votives.
If you were burning the candle as it was purchased it clearly states on the security label that it should be extinquished when 1/2 ” of wax is left in the bottom. It should also be burnt on a heat resistant surface which it was not. From the picture taken it shows me that the candle was burnt to the very bottom and there was no wax left to burn so the glass got very hot causing the black mark on your window sill.
We do put a security label on all of our products hoping that people will take precautions when dealing with fire.
Please keep all burning candles within sight, out of reach of children and on a safe heat resistant surface. Keep wick trimmed to 1/4 ” , do not let wick trimmings, matches or any other foreign matter collect in side the jar as it can become highly flammable and do not burn any container candle below 1/2 ” from the bottom.
We hope this has informed you how to burn a candle safely.

Dear Briar Patch Candle Co.,

Firstly, I am also very sorry to get this email from you.. because you are clearly saying that I’m stupid and did not read the caution label if there was any AT ALL.
I checked again the cappuccino mug that I bought and there was nothing on it. I KNOW A VOTIVE MUST BE BURNT IN A VOTIVE CONTAINER..!
I bought the mug as is.. if you cannot read your own label on the mug..!!!
The reason why I wrote to Mr Jim Macleod was because this was the first time buying Briar Patch Candle and I was genuinely worried that it might occur again
with another customer and caused more harm than just my window sill… not because i enjoy receiving condescending replies from anyone.
I regret to inform you .. that i will never again buy products from Briar Patch Candle Company because of the rudeness of the person replying to my geniune concern.
Let me state once more that there was no security label on the cappucinno mug that I purchased.

Furthermore, out of all the other pre-made bottle type candle products I’ve bought from other companies, none have caused damage to my home, leading me to believe that you are simply using cheap, thin glass which does not provide adequate heat protection.

Dear BB:
I am sorry that you feel we were condescending. We certainly do not think you are stupid at all and am sorry if we made you feel this way. The letter talked about a ” votive candle” not about the cappuccino mug candle. It said “pictures of a votive candle” that you had purchased. The product in the picture was not a votive candle. We were not sure if you burnt a votive in it after you used the wax that came in it. Every product that leaves this factory has a security label on it and we were only trying to inform you of candle safety.
Regards,
The Briar Patch Candle Co.
