Our family have been trying to plan a holiday in the United States for ages now with our lil’ brat. But because of our work commitment.. and owning your own store, we do not even have time to go to a travel agency to make reservations.
Since I don’t have many relatives in the States, and we do not want to inconvenience our friends to accommodate us while we are in town, the best solution and for our privacy sake, is to stay in a hotel. This trip to the States, we are not only planning to sightsee alone but to visit our friends as well in 3 different state. Because of that, I would have to plan wisely in terms of getting the best hotel rates for various countries.. and various hotels.
Being in the hotel industry for about 15 yrs, one would think that i could just call and get a good rate from fellow hoteliers right..?? But in fact I found a place that gave me a better discount than my hotelier friends quoted. I checked Hotel Reservations out upon recommendation of my co-workers and found that this online site had better rates than what was quoted to me by my fellow hoteliers.
To be honest, i was quite surprised and a checked with my fellow hoteliers, i was told that they could only give me a competitive rate if i was a long-staying guest, unfortunately, we are not.
Unlike Hotel Reservations, who have been in this business for more than 6 yrs, they have all the advantages of a buying group discount. Meaning, they might have already blocked a certain amount of rooms with a certain hotel for a period of time, therefore they are able to pass this savings to us, the travellers/customer. Their online booking tools are easy to us, and it tells you the availability immediately and the rates. They also have a hotline that you can call into at anytime of the day and a hotel expert will be able to assist you. I’ve checked some of their write up about hotels in the various countries that i’ve stayed before.. and found that the description of the hotels that they have online were not far from the truth at all, coz’ sometimes, when you book hotels online, they say one thing.. and then when you arrived at the hotel.. it’s is actually more like a motel, and since i’m travelling with a toddler, i really don’t want to be short-changed.
Hotel Reservations has more than 70,000 properties worldwide, so even if we are planning to go elsewhere, we can still take a vacation around Canada with the help of their online service.
