Missing Good Crepes

When the local Farmer’s Market opened its door down on Water Street the first time more than a year ago – the food the impressed us most was the crepe. But it was Chef John with his  chefwear  and his professionalism  with the making of the crepes that impressed us most.  It was just too sad that he chose to retire only after a year and today as I stepped into the Farmer’s market, I cannot but helped feeling sad because I do missed his crepes and they were the best I’ve tasted thus far.  He was generous in his ingredients and he took his time to make the crepes individually and enjoyed every moment of it.  Someone else is in the spot that the creperie was in but I really missed the crepes so much and no one can make crepes as good as Chef John, he is an icon !

My Karate Kid

I’m really proud of Chloe because she stuck to Karate even in the summer – and even though she was quite disappointed that she didn’t get her orange stripes during spring.  Her sinseh told me today that she will be getting her orange stripe before the end of summer and she seems to be truly enjoying her karate classes every week.  My karate kid haven’t used any of her karate moves on the kids that bother her yet – hahahha!

Enjoying The Summer

This year’s summer – we are trying to enjoy it to the max with Chloe, I think because of the death of Grammie that had taken us all by surprised and also really woke me up – that spending time with Chloe is a lot more important than anything.  I don’t want to die with regrets that I didn’t do much with Chloe and that she grows up not knowing what it would have been like to do this and that with me as a mom.  So I’m trying my darnedest to do what is right by her.  Sure we do send her to summer camp still but that’s because we want to make sure she is out in the sun a little bit and be able to interact with other kids and that her social skill will continue to improve and that she learns to share and other common courtesy stuff.  But this year, we’ve done a lot more with her than we usually did before and I hope that we will continue to do more with her before the summer ends.

She had also been to game arcade when we were on holiday and we’ve taken trip out of town twice already – so hopefully before the summer ends we will go up to the city again for a few days to do whatever she wants.  I don’t want to just make money and forget about giving Chloe the childhood she deserves.  Making money is important but Chloe is way more important than money.

The HandyMan

I used to be the handy woman at home when I was back in Asia – because my brothers, sisters and mother depended on me a lot but ever since coming to Canada – I don’t have to do any handy woman stuff because PB does it all.  Yes, he is quite handy I have to say, he does all the screwing, repairing and putting storage together or changing the car tires – he even has a  leather seat repair kit  to repair the leather sofa that we have in the living room at one time.   Sometimes, I think I’m so spoilt here because I expect the spouse to do all the heavy lifting for me, I’m almost like the damsel in distress here – hahah! but I like that I don’t have to be the only one at home doing everything.  And any woman out there will tell you they loved the handyman spouse – they are so macho to us.

Such Innocence

Chloe is growing up so fast, she is taller this year and put on quite a bit of weight – and eating a lot more, unfortunately, she is still very picky with her food.  Lately, she had been playing a lot with the neighbor’s kid and they get a long really well.  I’m very happy actually and the kid is really a good kid too.  She loved having her friend for supper or lunch, so when she wants to invite her for our outing, we have no problems with it.  They do have so much fun when they go out and eat, they play together, they draw and color together and the kids knows only about having fun.  I hope we can give Chloe a good childhood, unlike mine – that was filled with so much drama.  So the least drama we have for Chloe the better it is.  I’m very, very blessed because PB is the least drama person on earth.

Medication and I

I have no trouble taking medication as you all know – but meds are not cheap in Canada and I’m one of the luckier ones who have insurance that will take care of pretty much half of what I have to pay for in my daily meds.  I take a lot of them from medication for diabetes, to high blood pressure and cholesterol as well. Recently, I had to take an anti-depressant because of my anxiety attacks – and that alone cost tons of money.  So I’m really grateful to have gotten the insurance – else I would be like half of the town needing to buy their medication cheap online like  on this website – http://www.shoppharmacycounter.com/t-Adipex-Medicine.aspx  and I don’t blame them for doing that – especially if one of the antibiotics cost like $500 for a prescription.   No! I’m so not kidding – a customer of mine had this problem with a sore and it was eating into his flesh – but because he wasn’t insured – he can’t afford to get the meds.  It’s scarey especially since he is diabetic like myself.   So for those who thinks that medication is free in Canada or that Education is free – it’s not entirely true.  To a certain extend they are – but not all.

Visiting Grampie & Summer Gardening

We visited Grampie today even though we had loads of housework to do.  Firstly, because we were away for 2 weekends and secondly – we wanted to make sure he was alright.  It’s so strange not seeing Grammie around for the summer – I remembered how she was so worried about the garden one year – that even when I was in the hospital – she insisted on going back to help Grampie with the peas and getting the veggies ready for sale for the summer.

Grampie had hired someone to help him but of course, he is nothing like Grammie – afterall, Grammie and Grampie had their own momentum already after being married for so many years.

Grampie is doing the best he can – I’m hoping he will hang on – because people always say when you are marry for so long and one go first – the other tend to go soon too.  I’m so worried and as much as I  want to spend more time with Grampie – there is just so much work for us to do on our own too. *sigh*

Families Are Important

We just came home from an awesome wedding in Moncton, New Brunswick and met up with PB’s extended family – they were a lovely bunch of people.  This year we decided to go because Grammie is no longer with us – and I wished we had gone up to Moncton with her – in another wedding last year.  Little did we know that she was so sick and would have left us so soon.  Seeing PB’s extended family makes me realized more how important it is to be there for the family and know the extended family.   I’ve always thought that we would be taking care of our in-laws when they grow old and need help with their daily care but we didn’t get a chance to do it for grammie – and even though it had been only 5 months since she left – I still cannot believe that she is really gone forever.  So from now on – we will have to take care of grampie and buy all the  home care products  he will need in the future for him.  I’m proud of Grampie because he is holding up so well – he is staying strong and busy.  For those who have a chance to get to spend time and get to know their extended family – don’t take them for granted.

An Awesome Vacation

This vacation that we took to Moncton was a great bonding time for Chloe and us.  We wanted to make sure that the vacation was about her – and we did try to make most stuff about her.  Chloe had a great time swimming, playing games at Crystal Palace and going to Build-a Bear and build herself a new bear plus we bought lots of clothing for her from The Children’s Place in Moncton.  I’m glad that PB was doing his best to make our vacation a good one.  But I came back with a cold – darn!

To Magnetic Hill Zoo

We headed to the Magnetic Hill Zoo after having breakfast at the hotel with the extended family.  But alas, we should have dress lightly – it was way too hot but we did managed to walk a good part of the zoo with Chloe.

Like any zoo – there were lots of animals – and chloe wasn’t too fascinated by them to be honest.

Some goats for petting but Chloe didn’t wanna pet them.
