A Thief In School

Chloe’s new cap from Etsy got stolen in school – and no she didn’t lose it – she left it near her book bag where they are supposed to be – and when she got out from class for break time they were gone. Shitty! this is a one in a kind cap – handmade and pretty expensive – and it sure broke my little girl’s heart. She loved the hat so much – she was really upset about it and couldn’t eat nor play the entire day. I hope the person who stole the hat gets lice all year round and rashes on the hand all year round too. We believed it is not a child that did it – more like someone who came to the school for the Grade Primary orientation that day – for Chloe had the cap for almost 3 weeks now – and nothing happened – and as soon as new people were in the school – the very first day – her cap was stolen – shitty is not even the word to describe how i feel about the person who stole Chloe’s cap. So from now on – I told Chloe – she can’t bring anything expensive to school no more – else she would end up getting them stolen – and that’s not good.

Spending Saturdays @ Grammie’s

Chloe has come a long way from being a kid – who won’t go anywhere without us – till now making it a weekly schedule to go visit her grandparents on Saturdays. She has so much fun with them -she usually asked to stay longer till we close shop on Saturdays. She haven’t had a sleepover there yet – but I think soon she will. I think she loves it there so much – because she gets to get dirty and Grampie lets her use his bushnell binoculars to check out birds and insects around the garden and field – since Grampie’s house got lots of land. They let her keep snails as pets at their home and dig trenches and make water holes in their garden.

I think it is really awesome that kids can go out and play and enjoy the outdoors and fresh air, we never had grandparents who would do anything for us – therefore it is so important to me – that Chloe gets to know her grandparents and uncle well. And Grampie tries to bond with Chloe more often too – and I know she loves him very much and wants to do things with him – even fishing. But binoculars are the ones that interest her the most – I think the next time Grampie is going to have to bring her hunting as well.

Pleasant Visit For Chloe

Chloe’s school friends came by to visit yesterday and they stayed a bit for a chat and to eat some donuts and hot chocolate. While i did my work – they were chatting, playing and eating at the same time when one talked about Justin Bieber and said that he was a two – timer – hahahahha!! these girls are but 7 yrs old – and they know what two timers were but not my Chloe. So that got me thinking about how careful we have to be in front of our kids and also what kind of shows we want them to watch – for I bet this girl learned it from the tv. Maybe I am being overly protective or maybe I just want my Chloe to be a baby for a little longer and enjoy the innocence of being a kid of 7 yrs old. Kids shouldn’t be thinking of crushes, Justin Bieber – or a two timer – they should be playing princess tea party.

Yoga Or Kick Boxing

A new Yoga studio just opened upstairs from our store – and the kick boxing opposite our store – at the same time – well almost. I’m interested in both – and even though I don’t have the strength or muscles to do both – I think I don`t need anything special to build my body mass as read on www.creatinepowders.com. I think those are more for body builders and wrestling fighters that are having a show at the Mariner Center later this month. It`s amazing how they do it – I wonder if they really take stuff like creatine powder for leaner muscles but they sure looked good from the posters that I saw around downtown. Anyhow – going back to Yoga or kick – boxing – both are about the same prices for the group classes and both as just as convenient – and I`m sure both are good for keeping healthy and fit – so which one? Keeping fit and calm is good – but I also want to be able to build some muscles and strength. I think they do offer trial classes – so I’m going to do that – and then decide – wish me luck!

Mini Vacation Gone Wrong

So we just got back from our mini – vacation to the city – and boy! was it a worrisome vacation. Our friend said I’m a worrywart but how can I not be – when the car was having trouble and our safety was in question. I was so looking forward to this mini-vacation because it had been 6 months since I had gone up to the city to savor my Japanese food and dim sum. And even though I did get to eat one meal sit down dinner at a Japanese restaurant and some dim sum – I know that PB wasn’t really enjoying it – nor was Chloe – because all the time during our mini-vacation – she said she wanted fish and chips *slap forehead*. We also lost some shopping time because we were out searching for a garage to look at our car – and our hotel room wasn’t the best at first but the hotel staff were excellent and tried their best to make our stay a great one. I had wanted to stay for another day – to get the car looked at first and also to get some more shopping done – but in the end – PB decided to come back on the schedule date *sigh*. So I rushed to get a few things done and get as much chinese food as I can get and then came back. All the way – praying for journey mercy from God. What a vacation!

Doing Business In Canada

Being in business for almost 12 years this year in a small town in Canada can be quite challenging but the spouse loves his retail store and as owner by association – I just play the supportive role and watch out for anything that can improve our business, our store and of course making the customers happy.

The store had been using a program written by a friend of the spouse and in most part it is an alright point of sale software but we know that at some point of time we are going to need a software that keeps better inventory than the one we are currently using. It would be awesome to be able to do inventory on a monthly basis with a bar-code scanner like the big retail stores – not with printed papers and pen since our inventory is growing so rapidly. Plus we also have a ebay store that we are doing a trial on – to see if it is feasible to move some products online. It’s alright if you are working alone but if you have employees – it is definitely much more effective to have a good POS system – more accurate, more systematic.

I told the spouse that at some point – we will have to do all the above not only because of ourselves but to be able to serve the customers better as well. And with a professional POS system, we can then go for long vacations without worrying about whether the employees can cope with doing inventory work the way we used to do them. 12 years in business is no easy feat – and to keep everything organized gets even harder without a good POS system – I think it’s time to call in the professionals eh.

Weekend Shopping

We are heading to the city this weekend and I can’t wait – it’s long overdue – and we should have gone to the city in April for my birthday. Unfortunately, because of my dentist (filling caused me so much pain) – we didn’t go at all. I’m going to be having a shopping spree and eating spree – I’ve got so many things I wanna buy – from corsets and bustiers to skin care products and maybe a real leather bag from Roots that I’ve been eying on. And then I’m also going to the Swaroski store in Halifax – to treat myself. Japanese food is a must – and some dim sum on Sunday – and of course, lots of chinese groceries. Hopefully, I can find some lingerie for myself as well – since there are none here that I like. I’m so excited to be trying out clothes and lingerie but it would have been nicer to go with my girlfriends instead of PB. But oh well – can’t leave the kid with him and go to the city and have fun right?

Nurturing Your Child

Mother’s day just came and went but I’m still thinking of my mother and my family from home – and how different our style of raising our children are. While of course, my mother didn’t have friends and family who are supportive – I’m more blessed with PB – his family and lots of friends who gives me lots of support emotionally and physically. It warms my heart when Grammie said to bring chloe over this weekend – if she wasn’t too tired from attending a wedding in Moncton because I never had a grammie who was really closed to me. My grandmother passed away from cancer when I was 9 years old – and from my memories of her – she wasn’t the nurturing kind of grandmother because my grandfather was kinda a tyrant – so she was always tip-toeing around him. Therefore, I made it my mission – to make sure that Chloe has a more special relationship with her grandparents and extended family than I did. I feel it is so important – because I’ve always lived with regrets not knowing both sets of my grandparents because my parents were either too busy – or the other one didn’t care at all about extended families.

I grew up without a lot of hugging, kissing and chatting with my parents or grandparents – but with Chloe she is always surrounded with people that loved her and willing to play with her and read to her. I don’t believed in expensive clothing or toys but I certainly believed in spending quality time and being there for Chloe. I never encouraged expensive stuff – but I believed in healthy eating – even if they were more expensive – if they were good for her health – I would buy them. I believe in nurturing my child – supporting and encouraging her and not just giving her everything she wants, I believe in balance – I believe in moderation.

Re-Organizing Our Study Room

We spent yesterday re-organizing the papers from the store that were store in our study room for the longest time. We have a closet full of documentation for the last 7 years from the store – because that is what we are supposed to do – according to revenue Canada. I told PB that he should get that software for document management – that way – everything is being stored in the hard-drive and we can store the paperwork in the basement or can throw those that are older than 7 years away. Of course, we are going to keep the ones from the last 2 – 3 years – but a closet full of documents – receipts and more – you can imagine – how much we had to do yesterday just to re-organized them. But truly, I would like to turn our study room into a guest room once our basement is finally done and we have a study in the basement again. For anyone with any amount of paperwork you have to keep – you really need that software – it will safe you a lot of space and time – that’s for sure.

Target For Racism Already

So we went to pick Chloe up from her After School program today and she complained that she had a bad day. We asked why? she said one of her classmate – a boy said to her – that he hates CHINESE! *slap forehead*. We asked Chloe if she had spoken to her teacher about it – and she said yes – and that her teacher had spoken to her entire class about it. I don’t know how a 7 yrs old would said something like that to another kid in his class. In our household, we never use the word “HATE” – according to Chloe “HATE” itself is already a bad word. While we constantly teach Chloe right from wrong – why are other kids saying hurtful things to my daughter? What had that kid been taught at home or around home/friends? I’m curious to know exactly what is going on at this boy’s home/friends. Should I be worried for Chloe? or should i just brush it off as a kid’s thing – that they don’t know any better?
