“The municipality of Yarmouth will proceed with plans to build a new administrative centre in Hebron–but not at all costs. Unofficial estimates for the structure have come in at about 4 million dollars. A price that has angered many ratepayers. During a regular meeting this morning councillors discussed concerns that were raised at last week’s public meeting. Most around the table agreed that proper office space is needed for staff and the public and that the muncipality’s current location, the courthouse, has outlived its usefulness. Warden Bryan Smith says on amalgamation, as far as he’s concerned, it’s a dead issue right now. Warden Smith says as far as the proposed new building is concerned, he says councillors and residents alike must keep an open mind.”
