Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone ! This is Chloe getting ready to go to church for the Easter hunt and then headed over to Grammie’s and Grampie’s for another hunt and then supper there. Every year’s Easter is much more enjoyable for Chloe now that she understand the hunting of the easter eggs – but this year – she knows that Easter Bunny wasn’t gonna bring her any toys but chocolates and candies because she admitted that she has got too much toys. The dress is from her Kai Mah Lina – from Singapore and this is the first time she is wearing it. Her grampie said she was all dressed up fancy today – hahah!!

Time has really flown – she is still our baby but yet look at her – she is all grown up – it seems only yesterday that she was still a toddler learning how to walk. She is as naughty as ever – and so whiny – she would win the contest for the Whiniest child hands down. But she is also adorable, cute and most times very funny – we count our blessings every day – and Easter today – also reminds us of all the blessings we’ve received indirectly because of Chloe. All we wished for Chloe is to be healthy, happy and honest.

Spring Weddings

Spring weddings are so beauty – don’t you think? we’ve just attended one of a close friend and it was absolutely beautiful – despite the fact that the weather was still a bit too chilly for our liking. But the bride was beautiful and the designer bridesmaid dresses were to die for! I told PB that had I known that the bridemaid dresses were so gorgeous – I would have begged to be one of the bride’s maid – hahhaha!! But it was a beautiful wedding and everything was perfect – even the wedding cake were yummy and gorgeous. The bride and groom served us the wedding cake themselves and it was definitely a very nice gesture. The couple was the sweetest and I wish them happiness always.

Officially 10 Years In Canada

So in May 15 2011 – I’ve been officially in Canada for 10 yrs. Yes! I came back here to Y-Town – after he spent 5 weeks in Asia with me. We traveled a bit around Asia – before coming back here – to a cold and wet town. Time did fly – and many asked me – how did I end up in Y-Town when I could be anywhere in the world. Isn’t it strange how one’s life turn out to be? is it really destiny ? or did I worked towards it? Many also asked if I had any regrets – because Y-town is such a small town and quite backwards with no food from home and high rise or even great shopping centers.

I missed a lot of things from home to be honest – mostly, the food, the weather and of course the people (family) from home. I also missed the freedom of being able to get from one place to another with public transport and the advance medical care in Singapore.

But 10 yrs – is a very long time not to miss home (Singapore) but the spouse’s business is doing well and if I didn’t come to Canada – I wouldn’t have such a lovely daughter nor would I have a spouse who respect me the way PB does and let me go crazy whenever I want. But PB is a good father and spouse – and I don’t think the combination I can find anywhere else – he is an honest person – with very little bad habits or flaws. No one is perfect – neither am I – so if he can bear with my craziness – I think I shouldn’t complained – I should count my blessings eh. So here’s to another 10 yrs in Canada!

Own A Commerical Buidling

So a commercial building came up for sale – within our price range and PB is interested in investing in it. An option is to move the store to that building and then rent the 3 other apartments on the top out. But the inside of the apartments need working on – the 2nd floor really needs lots of work and we also have to check out the property tax for this building – to see if it is worth buying it. We do have the highest property tax in Nova Scotia – so lets hope the town don’t get too crazy about the taxes. Truth be told – I’m not too keen – because good tenants are hard to find around this town. Some folks think that becoming a landlord is good but it’s not true – it’s a lot of responsibility and if you get bad tenants then you are totally screwed.

Birthday Plans & Travel

I told PB that when my birthday comes – I want to celebrate it in Halifax – although after visiting NC’s website , I would very much like to spend my birthday in North Carolina instead – with the beach and the son. I know it’s going to be warmer in North Carolina and my best friend lived there – but because we own our own business – me being only owner by association, we can’t just close shop and leave. So yes ! we do have travel plans in the near future for my birthday and as much as I would like to fly on an airplane – that would just have to wait for a bit longer. For those who’ve never been to North Carolina – you have to visit it sometime and if we did go – we are going to get one of those vacation homes instead of staying in a hotel. So much cheaper and a lot more convenient if you want to cook or do your laundry int he meantime. But for this birthday trip, I’m going to visit Annie’s Cafe in Halifax – so stay tuned – while i tell you about this little cafe in Queens Street.

Want To Buy A Bowling Alley?

We just got back from the bowling alley and learned that it is on sale again soon – so we heard from the other bowlers who where there bowling. I guess with the mess the church is in – because of the priest being sued for something – they had no choice but to sell the bishop’s house and the bowling alley? so I’ve heard. Anyhow, I figured if I were to take out my CPF money – it should be enough to buy the bowling alley – it should be a profitable thing? after all, this is the ONLY bowling alley in town. It does need a little sprucing up – but it should be doable. Or anyone out there wants to buy a bowling alley? let me know eh – good investment i say – should be able to make $500 – $1000 a day from what i see.

Family Time @ Bowling Alley

There really isn’t very much to do in this town – and Chloe dislike shopping during the weekends – she said it is boring! well, until she finds something she likes and wants to buy it -hahah!! Plus Sundays are meant for relaxing and cleaning the house – so it can be quite the battle with time. But last week, Chloe suggested that we go bowling and we all did – after all, bowling is a really fun game for all of us. Well, despite the fact that the bowling balls are so small and the technology is like in the 70s – hahah!! yes ! i kid you not. Well, the most important thing is spending time together right? But yes, we are doing something out of our daily routine and the best part is we get to exercise a little and be a wee bit active. Chloe said we are not active enough – if only we have half as much energy as she does.

Parents/Teachers Meet Term 2 2011

So Chloe came back with her Report Card for Term 2 Grade 1 on Tuesday – and she had all Bs and As – a bit of improvement on some stuff – and slacking on Math and Science – but a chat with the Science teacher during the Parents and Teachers meet on Friday – proved that I was worried for nothing. The teachers think that she is doing alright – and she is good in class and responsive. But her home room teacher told us that she didn’t make it to the Reading Recovery Program – because they chose someone else who needed more help apparently – oh well! Am I pleased with her results – somewhat – but I was expecting more As – someone on Facebook said that it was the Asian mom coming right out – hahhaha!! prolly – Asian moms are more demanding I guess. But anyhow – below was what was written on her report card.

Chloe has made good progress this term in all her subject areas. She is improving her reading skills at a steady rate. She is now reading at mid grade one level. She is making steady progress with her writing. Chloe is a very beautiful printer and takes her time to produce neat work. Keep up t…he good work, Chloe!

Wedding Invite

So PB’s cousin wedding invite arrived today in the mail – and on the envelope it was addressed to : my maiden name – PB’s name and Chloe’s name without her family name. What a weird invite ? I saw PB looked at the invite as we came home and I was busy getting the heat up – and the next minute it was gone. I had asked PB what letter it was – and his reply – there was none. I guess he was trying to hide from me – because a few days ago – one of his aunt just asked me another ridiculous question about Chloe and I got ballistic and went crazy – hahah! Anyhow, we will be attending the wedding in New Brunswick and I want to look my best – and wear my best dress – time for the best weight loss supplement and a control diet and more exercise before the wedding in May! It doesn’t matter that they don’t think I am family – or Chloe is a KILLAM – but I’m going to look great if I am attending that wedding.

Consistency and Consequences

We bought a new coffee machine for the store – and when Chloe saw it – she wanted to try it – we were all ready to let her press a button – but the machine didn’t want to work properly – but when i was messing around with it – the coffee came out. So of course, she started whining and balling her eyes out. I let her waste a cup of water with no coffee in it – and let her calm down – about 10 minutes later – while her grammie was at the store – I told Chloe she wasn’t allowed to go to the after school program on Wednesday like we had planned to let her go – because she acted all crazy for nothing. It was time to teach her consequences and that things doesn’t necessary need to go her way all the time. Mostly, she is a good girl – but this girl doesn’t like to lose nor does she like it when she doesn’t get her way. Well, I told Chloe – the quicker she learns that she isn’t going to get everything she wants – the sooner she won’t be let down so easily.
