Immigration & Custom

cats

So I’ve recently met a couple who just came home from Alberta.  The guy is from town but the girl is from Asia and they recently got married and like any good Asian, I had to chat her up and make sure she knows that she isn’t alone in this foreign country.  Of course, for those who’ve never traveled out of the country and lived in another country, you won’t know how someone from so far away feels when they basically have no one but the spouse and his family and friends to count on.  Most times, Asian girls would have no trouble with her new family but there are girls from Asia who may encounter some sort of abuse and even loneliness , so it is nice to have a friendly face and someone to go to in case something does come up.

Most Asians would offer a hand and since I’ve been in the same situation , I find that it’s only kind to offer any kind of assistance or even share a bowl of soup from home with these new migrants.  Of course, not everyone would have their immigration status or papers all ready and proper.  My advise to anyone who are already on a work permit in Canada and is planning to stay in Canada, you should apply for permanent resident right away.  Don’t wait till your visas or work permit expires because immigration/custom here in Canada isn’t here to make things difficult for you.  If you are genuinely here to stay or have a real relationship, there is no reason why immigration would not allow you to stay.

As for custom/immigration , I’ve traveled so much and I’ve never encountered a mean immigration officer, I’ve been stopped by immigration before when I first came to Canada but once you’ve answered the few questions they have , they will let you go on your way.

Christmas All Year Round

008

Yes!  it’s Christmas all year round for Chloe as usual.  Today, we received another package from her Godmother from Singapore.  Yes, a $90 postage box – what a lucky girl my daughter is right?  well, when you have a mom that is that popular, you can help but get presents from all over the world hahah!!

010

As usual, Chloe was so excited to open her box of goodies.

011

Toys and candies and all sorts from all over Asia.

014

Hello Kitty – limited edition from Japan.

015

The famous panda from China, Ling Ling ? – you see her Godmother travels a lot for pleasure and for business with her hubby.  So my Chloe gets all the goodies from godma of course!

017

Chloe wondering what these were.

018

Then she realized that they were pens from Universal Studio from Sentosa Island.

019

And not just one pen there were 9 different kinds at $4.90 each – so you can imagine how much her Godmother spent on pens alone for her !!!  $50 !!! in pens!!!!  tell me – how lucky my kid is!!!

020

Snacks from Japan or China?

021

And yummy candies from Chengdu – i believe.

023

And more cookies from Japan.  Chloe is super stoked and she knows that she is a lucky girl to have so many people to love her.  Thanks to her Godma Lina!  she is always so generous to her.  All the Ralph Lauren clothing that you see Chloe wearing are from her Godma Lina.

Gifts From New Zealand

Not too long ago, we received a box filled with goodies from Japan, Tokyo and today, we received another box from New Zealand.  I’m so BLESSED!!!!  I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all my friends from around the world.  They send me so much stuff – I can’t even finish eating and using them on my own.

I’ve known Margie for many years, this lady flies all over the world !  a globetrotter I tell yer – and she is so sweet – skin care and chocolate from New Zealand.  Thank you Margie !  you didn’t have to do that !  but I love everything!

Presents From UK

Chloe and I are truly blessed, we get gifts from all over the world from friends and family.  This is from Pearly and it came all the way from UK with lots of food and chocolate for me and Chloe.  We are so grateful for awesome friends who think of us during every festive season and feel so blessed not because of the presents we get but because of the fact that we are in their heart and thoughts.  Thank you so much Pearly for being such an awesome friend and to all of you out there (you know who you are).

Changing A Life

I don’t really see it as changing a life but more like paying forward but yes, I received a thank you card from the kid I had been sponsoring for years.  It all began way before I even met PB and after migrating to Canada, I felt more for these kids because God have been so good to me, not only do I have a wonderful spouse, a roof over my head, I gave birth to a miracle baby at 39.  It was definitely a blessing, so I continued paying forward and this year marks my 25 years sponsoring a child and I’m very excited each time I get a letter from kids that I’ve sponsored.  And yes, I share this passion with Chloe as well and she said she is very proud of me and gave me $1 for being a great mom – hahhaha!

I’ll Never Forget

Sometime in June this year, my girlfriend from Singapore whom I’ve worked with some 25 years ago sent me and Chloe a huge box of food and goodies for Chloe.  She refused to take any money from me and the postage alone cost about $350 and if you take a look at the food below, you can mentally calculate how much she spent on food for me and Chloe.

All the above food were food i cannot get here in Canada and my girlfriend Regina patiently collected all the food and sent them over to me as a gift.

This was her gift for Chloe and instant camera with 10 boxes of films.  The camera takes instant pictures and it’s great for kids or anyone who loves to have fun.  Chloe was so thrilled with the camera – that she showed everyone her camera, especially her friends from home.  She didn’t bring it to school because she didn’t want to lose it.

Anyhow, I wasn’t able to thank Regina properly because that box of stuff must have cost over $1000.  So finally, I found out what she likes to eat and I asked Chloe’s godma in Singapore to help me get some gift certificates for her.  I never forget anyone’s kindness towards me and my family and even though I may not be able to thank them personally, I try hard to repay them for their kindness.  As for those who are unkind to us, I just ignore them completely because I won’t waste any time on those folks, I’ve got so many friends and family who loves us unconditionally – and Regina is a living testament of this kindness.

Sisters From Another Mother

We are all Asians but come from different countries but yet – we met in the same place far away from Asia – away from home.  How unique and how mysterious right?  how the universe works and how God has plans for each one of us.  I think it is no short of a miracle that we all met and we all get along so well – on one hand – it must be because we are all Asians and married to Canadians and long for home and a familiar sight.  Migrating is not as fun as people think – it gets really lonely if you don’t have a supportive spouse.  I’m very blessed and lucky – PB had thus far been great with me – he is my support 100%.

Camera For Vacations

We are currently making preparations to leave in a few days to Moncton for a wedding.  I’m very excited because it’s PB’s cousin getting married and we are all invited for it.  I know that traveling time and hotels will cost us a lot but I don’t really care about money right now but more about family.

I’ve many kind of cameras – some bought by myself and others by PB but what i would really like for this trip is to get a  canon 7d  , unfortunately, I have yet to be able to convince him – maybe the last day of our vacation eh?  when they are tired and most vulnerable. If I get a Canon 7d – I would either donate the rest of my cameras away or resale them at the store – that’s why we have the store.

The Obedient Wives’ Club

First of all – I’m glad I’m not a Muslim in Malaysia and after you’ve watched the above ridiculous news – you will know why and understand where I’m coming from. To think that in this age and time – there are women who would believed and follow such a ridiculous order – now that is crazy ! how backwards is that? No marriage can survive a polygamy marriage – like PB said – one woman in the household is already a headache – to have more than 1 woman – that’s just asking for trouble.

But to think that one would enter a marriage to be very, very obedient to their husband/spouse? what? you mean you are a dog? or worst – a slave? we don’t even use the word “obedient” for raising our kids – these days – so why would a marriage have the word “obedient” in it? Shouldn’t a marriage be of a equal partnership? a life together ? what a pity – to be completely obedient was what the bride said in the youtube video.

So what does this complete obedience comprised of? to fulfill his every need and desire – so said the buck -teeth woman – to sexually please him better than a first class prostitute? * raised eyebrows* – so now to be a Muslim wife you have to be better than a first class prostitute? what a way to compare yourself to a prostitute? are you sure you want your husband to treat you like one too? since you behave like one? does it also mean that you can service his friends/business associates in bed too – afterall, you are better than a first class prostitute – and also full obedience needed in this case right? Isn’t that why the Obedient wives club is all about? Afterall, you don’t want your husband to stray out of matrimony – but it’s ok for him to have up to 4 other woman in his life – for wives? holy moly !!! all the fluids passed in between wife one – wife number four during the various days he is served by his wives – mannnn!!! that cannot be too healthy can it?

Now what baffled me most was this highly educated Muslim woman who grew up in Western Australia!!!! now that one really, really stunt me – Mariana was her name – she is young and very pretty too – and to think that she would agree to be the 4th wife? What’s up with that right? holy moly! No disrespect, but I never wanted to marry an Asian – having seen what my mom had to go thru’ and how we were brought up – but of course, not all Asians are this way – but I wasn’t going to test it out. Thank you very much.
