Children Bear No Grudges

Children bear no grudges – they may be fighting one day but the next day they forget and become good friends again.  It’s only us adults who cannot get over things and stop talking to each other or avoid each other.  We really have to take a page from our kid’s life and be like them – and not bear grudges and let bygones be bygones but it’s of course easier said than done.  So when you kids keep coming back and whining about stuff to you – you may wanna check yourself first and see if you are behaving this way – children pick up their behavior from their parents and those they are closest with.  Having said that, I guess I better check myself – because I know PB is not a whiner – so it has to be me – muahahha!!  see there is so much to learn from being a parent.

Simply Joyous

Last week, Chloe and I spent the afternoon with good friends Lynette and Josh.  Lynette was a customer who turned into a friend – a good one indeed – always there for me – and always fetching me about and she never say one thing bad about anyone or anything.  When we spend time together – with our kids, it’s all about having fun and enjoying the day with each other.

Chloe had so much fun feeding the ducks because Lynette was so generous with not only her time but buying fresh bread to feed the duckies and doing all the running around with Chloe – and always paying attention to Chloe’s every word – I cannot ask for more in a friend.  You can always count of Lynette and Josh for a good time and they never ever ask you anything personal.

Some friends of mine from back home – they want to know every detail of your life – even to the most intimate – but not Lynette – she respect your privacy yet she would listen to you patiently.  I’m so blessed with good friends.

It Is Really All About Her

Little does Chloe knows about it is all about her – and the little boss t-shirt that we had printed out for her out of fun – actually has more meaning to it.  It is all about her – because even when Grammie was very sick and knew that she was not going to make it out alive – she was worried about her.  Now that Grammie is gone – I too am worried to leave her when she is so young plus when Grampie is sick I’m worried too – and keeping my fingers crossed that nothing happens to Grampie because as it is – Chloe is so worried if one of us is sick.  She is afraid that we might die and leave her.

Little does Chloe know that we all worked so hard at the store and online because we want to give her a better life.  We don’t want her to grow up without anything nor having to worry about food and money for furthering her studies but it is all about her and I hope that when she grows up she knows that whatever we do – is mostly because of her – because we loved her so much.

Very Active Child

Yes ! she is a very active child and all she wants is to go out and play, play, play!  all day long if she can but it has to be with her friends.  For being the only kid at home – this one certainly do not want to be alone.  Lucky for me – she is in Canada – and space is aplenty and now that the neighbors are all her age – she has plenty of kids to play with too within the neighborhood.

I wished I had done the fencing earlier – because when she is out playing like that – I get worried for her – and have to watch her constantly.  You never know what kind of people are out there.

I’m glad that the Boys and Girls club already mailed us the registration forms for the summer activities.

Choosing The City Carefully When Migrating

Yes!  to most people migrating means a better life for our children but when you are planning to migrate – and if you have a choice – make sure you choose the city you want to migrate to carefully.  Why?  take for example myself – I’m in a place where I cannot get the kind of food I’m used to – and even though I’ve broken down and decided to cook for myself – I can’t find the ingredients.  And most importantly, health care may be free but when you are in a small town – you might not see a doctor for about a month – so you have to pick your dates carefully to get ill.

So folks if you are migrating – pick your province and town carefully – if you want Asian food – you have to find a place where you can find Asian grocery stores easily.  But of course, living in a small town – only means – the standard of living is a lot lower – but not necessarily.

Dealing With Grammie’s Death 3 Months

It has been about 3 months since we buried Grammie – and Chloe is doing much better this month than she did the last 2.  This week when we were heading out to visit Grampie – she said to me – that she missed her Grammie – I replied I understand.  I haven’t written much about Grammie’s death because I myself am still trying to come in terms with it.  I still cannot believed that she is gone  and so fast – so unbelievable – she died so fast 2.5 weeks only.   Part of me is saying – WHAT THE HELL!  I don’t always see eye to eye with Grammie but having known and getting involved in her life so intimately for the last 10 years still leaves me feeling rather empty.

PB and Grampie seems to be handling it really well though – maybe it is just me – finding it hard as usual to let go – it’s probably just all in my head – and also there are just so much things that we haven’t spoken nor done together with her.  So much difference during our visits now without Grammie – she is definitely missed.  Now when we visit – we have to make sure we find something for everyone to eat – and we served ourselves – although I’ve only washed dishes once after Grammie died.  But yes, a lot of difference – especially for Chloe – so we all try to do stuff with her – when we visit – so she won’t feel lonely or start missing her Grammie again.

Real Friends

“We don’t lose friends. We just learn who our real ones are.”

So very true eh?  I’m 47 years old this year and have a handful of friends only – and that’s because I’m quite selective of who I become friends with.  Many people only call you as a friend when they need you and once they don’t – they just never really care for you.  Or there are also those who are so superficial and only wants to make use of you.

I was chatting with PB today and we two go together really well because we loved our privacy a lot and cannot seems to entertain a lot – we loved staying home and doing our own things – whether it is reading or watching a movie or just going on the internet.  I don’t think we can have a house guest for too long or a renter in our home even though our basement is almost done.

As for myself – i’m willing to help anyone – but to get really closed to someone – than it takes a lot more than just curry favor me or the spouse – we just isn’t into it.   Good friends are hard to find – and I’m very blessed that I have a few and that’s good enough for me.  Plus, 47 yrs later – it’s family that never fails you  – PB’s side of the family – they are always around during the most difficult time.

Cigar For Everyone

Chloe’s cousin, May  just had a baby boy and chloe asked me where’s  the cigar for everyone?  because I had told her in our culture, we give cigars to everyone when we have a boy – as boys are a celebrated baby back home.  May’s baby is a beautiful baby – so maybe we should get her some fuente cigars  to pass around when we she comes home to visit everyone with her baby after she is rested and able to travel.  May lives in Toronto with her husband – and yes, she will be back this summer with her baby and we are looking forward to seeing her baby and her.   I bet some friends and family here would be delighted to get some cigars from the new daddy.

So Relaxing

I never had a chance to do cross stitch when I was a kid not because we were that poor but because my mom concentrated a lot on the boys and nurturing them instead of us the girls.  When I got older, I was too busy trying to make a life for myself, so cross stitch never came into my mind.  I took up cross stitch because of Chloe but ended up liking it so much because it’s so relaxing.

The only problem ?  my eyesight – because i need bi-focal for seeing things that are near – and I do have bi-focal but just don’t really know how to make use of it – so I take off my glasses and cross stitch without them.  I noticed that it’s not really that good for the eye – I seems to be straining it a lot lately – so I’m taking it easy on the cross stitch and do a little at a time.  Cross stitch helps me to stay in the same room and watch PB play his games or watch a movie he likes and I don’t.   Of course, it also helps me to stay in the tv room with chloe and watch her Wizards of the Waverly place for the 10th time – hahahha!  So yes, it’s quite pleasing to cross stitch.

Sudden Fever

Chloe felt ill suddenly during dinner time – first she had a tummy ache and then followed by a fever and you know she is really sick when she didn’t asked for milk before going to bed.   She haven’t even completely recovered from her cold and cough from last week and she got sick again – oh my!  it’s gonna be a busy week for me – with her not in school for a few days.

Like any mother we first worry about why she is having a fever suddenly – is her immune system so poor?  is there something she can take for it?  and then of course, there is school that we have to worry about – since she missed already a few days last week and the week before – can she catch up ?

Of course, the doctor situation isn’t the best here in this small town – where you have to make an appointment or go to the hospital and sit in the emergency room for hours – at times like this i truly wished i was in singapore – I bet she can get to see a pediatrician immediately.  Anyway – I will update on her situation – time to go spend time with the kid.
