Immigration & Custom

cats

So I’ve recently met a couple who just came home from Alberta.  The guy is from town but the girl is from Asia and they recently got married and like any good Asian, I had to chat her up and make sure she knows that she isn’t alone in this foreign country.  Of course, for those who’ve never traveled out of the country and lived in another country, you won’t know how someone from so far away feels when they basically have no one but the spouse and his family and friends to count on.  Most times, Asian girls would have no trouble with her new family but there are girls from Asia who may encounter some sort of abuse and even loneliness , so it is nice to have a friendly face and someone to go to in case something does come up.

Most Asians would offer a hand and since I’ve been in the same situation , I find that it’s only kind to offer any kind of assistance or even share a bowl of soup from home with these new migrants.  Of course, not everyone would have their immigration status or papers all ready and proper.  My advise to anyone who are already on a work permit in Canada and is planning to stay in Canada, you should apply for permanent resident right away.  Don’t wait till your visas or work permit expires because immigration/custom here in Canada isn’t here to make things difficult for you.  If you are genuinely here to stay or have a real relationship, there is no reason why immigration would not allow you to stay.

As for custom/immigration , I’ve traveled so much and I’ve never encountered a mean immigration officer, I’ve been stopped by immigration before when I first came to Canada but once you’ve answered the few questions they have , they will let you go on your way.

First Day – Grade 6

IMG_3091

My dorky little girl is going on to Grade 6 , she is almost 12 years old now, well, a few more months, but it is going to come around soon than I want.  She looks so dorky here don’t she?   Yes, she is growing up , where has the time gone?  She is mostly a good kid but going thru’ pre-teen syndrome  I’m guessing.  She is still fussy with her food, which makes me think that I should have made her eat whatever , like sandwiches and cheese and broccoli , but she is eating quite healthy and not drinking pop and eating sugar like other kids that I know of.

Mostly plays well with other kids and still worries too much about stuff that are not important , like a broken toy and not wanting her friends to go thru’ her toys when they are here on play dates.  I don’t think she is selfish but she loves her stuff so much, she don’t want them destroyed and even though we tell her that it can be replaced, she didn’t want that , because what she already had has sentimental value.  *slap forehead*.   We cannot stress enough to her about not sweating the small stuff but at 11 years of age, it can be quite hard to understand that these are only small stuff.

This year will be her last year in her primary school, that is what we call it back home and for those who donch like the way I call it , that’s your problem.  Anyhow, I know she has a very good teacher like last year and I hope she enjoys her last year and I know that her school is going to do their best to teach her all they can and more and also enjoy her school syllabus as well.   Thus far, her primary school is nothing but the best for Chloe, she has enjoyed every year and looked forward to going back to school after summer.  I’m very grateful for the wonderful experiences she has had thus far with this primary school.

Lemonade To Fund Raise

IMG_3013

My father – in – law , Chloe’s grampie is the best man I’ve come to know after PB.  He made Chloe a lemonade stand as soon as I asked him to and also made a flower bed for my cottage , all because I asked him to.  I can never asked for a better father-in-law , not because he does things I asked him for but because he really loves me for who I am – even though he calls me the Chinese Jew. hehehe!  I enjoy it all because I know he calls me that because I’m family.

IMG_3014

Anyhow, Grampie build the lemonade stand for Chloe, so that she can sell some lemonade and do some fund-raising during the summer.  My father -in-law drove the lemonade stand all the way from his place to town even though he doesn’t like coming to town that often.  The fund-raising part we didn’t really figure what to fund raise for before summer but PB and I wanted to teach Chloe to grow up and empathy  as well as with morals.

Of course, the girls also want to have fun.  We rope in Jessica from the Chinese restaurant to come help because she is such an awesome kid.  And guess who visited the lemonade stand on a cloudy day of the Vintage car parade.  Yes ! the Seafest Princesses and what a treat it was for the girls !  they were so happy.

Anyhow, the girls fund raised $101 , for the family who lost their home in a fire in Richmond Road.

The girls then handed the money to the mother of the family – Simone.  She came to collect the money a couple of days later and was very appreciate and hugged Chloe for her kind deed.

So yes, this summer, we taught Chloe something new and a lesson for her to continue on a yearly basis now , to raise fund for a charitable purpose.  It doesn’t need to be a huge amount of money, but it would definitely means that she would have to work at it and know her purpose in life is not just about herself but to help the less fortunate along the way.

Father’s Day Present

001

Yes, I’m a little late with this because we have been really busy.  In fact, I only gave the present to PB a day after because dear Chloe was fussing so much, I forgot what I wanted to get for PB the day before Father’s day.  Sometimes, Chloe can be a baby and as much as I want to stop her from whining, we just bring her home straight away.

002

Anyway, I did managed to get out there the next day and bought tons of chocolate for him because I know for sure that he would eat all of them.

03

But the real father’s day gift that I wanted to get for him is this new mini segwey 2 wheels and it really didn’t cost me much since I got to the direct supplier.  And even though this comes out from China, we loved it.

My Very First Earthquake

cats

We just got back from the cottage and finishing up a late lunch when we felt the floors rumbled beneath us.  At first I thought it was some heavy vehicle coming down our street and never gave it a second thought.  But PB said it was all over FB that we just experienced an earthquake.  O. M . G. !  I never thought I would experience it here or in my lifetime coz’  I lived in quite safe places around the world.

It lasted like a few seconds and everything went back to normal.  I heard that the neighboring town had it worst than us.  I don’t know what to think to be honest?  Are we still safe here ?  or do we have to do something?  what do one do when one get an earthquake ?  seriously, we’ve never thought about it at all.  But since we’ve experience our very first earthquake, we should most definitely have a back up plan ?

Neighbor’s CampFire

cats

We invaded my neighbor’s space and went to enjoy their campfire on Sunday because we wanted to spend time with Chloe who wanted so badly to go get a roasted marshmallow.  We exchanged conversations and they had commented that they liked our new car and that they don’t see me sending chloe to school anymore.  I told them I had to thank Chloe’s teacher , else I would be stuck getting up and sending her to school with PB till now.  I said “Hallelujah” to that teacher and because of a remark she made to me 2 years ago, I was able to get out of sending Chloe to school in the morning. hahhahaha!  I looked forward to many more campfires at the neighbor’s because I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation.

A New Planner Already?

cats

My first Erin Condren life planner from my dear agent, who insisted that I have one of this so that I’ve a better planner to help me with doing my assignments on time and also manage my traveling better for next year.  The Erin Condren life planner starts from June 2015 till end of December 2016, so I can always start using it right now, I was told.

I’ve heard plenty of good things about the Erin Condren life planner , and I will definitely use it and let you know what I think about it after a month.  I used to love my planners when I was in college and university , meaning I was a lot more OCD before hahhaha!

Perks That Comes With My Job

cats

At the store, we get free lobsters and other stuff for Chloe all the time from our customers.  And for my online job, I get so many free stuff to check out and to review.  Yes, there are plenty of perks that comes with my online job and vlogging.  Just last week, I received a boxful of things to try out this summer and to vlog about it if I wished from advertisers.

PB never have to buy me cosmetic, perfumes or skin care , I always remind him how lucky he is – hahahha!  Vlogging turned out to be so much fun and so fruitful and fulfilling, not only do I make money, get free stuff, I get tons of friends/fans online.  What do I vlog about ?  mostly cosmetics, skincare for women over 50 of course and things happening around this town as well as Canada as an expatriate, you cannot imagine the many people who are interested in migrating to this part of the world.

Look Who Went Shopping ?

cats

My g/fs from home are very much into Hermes anything.  Usually, they shop together and order all their hermes goodies when one decided to go to Paris or London.  So the one who is going on a trip brings all these goodies back for everyone.

A handbag alone cost close to $25K , enough money to pay for a new car here but my g/fs from home, they buy a few every year.  Envious ?  don’t be !  I never was, because I’ve been there and done that, now I just loved more simple things.  And even with cheaper bags from Roots, I haven’t even open up mine from Christmas.  Yes, I’m  such a lousy user, I buy stuff and store them away , sometimes as long as a year before opening them up again or looking at it again.  No wonder the brat said I need a bigger house.  hahah!
